Camera Suggestions

Hey everyone! So James and I are sitting here reading reviews and talking about our next cruise (this October on the Fascination), and we want to get a decent camera (instead of using our not so great phone cameras).

Anyways, so the question is, what is a decent camera, good zoom, for about $200 or less? I've seen some pictures people post and they have some great ones so we are looking for suggestions.

Thank you in advanced! Oh and this thread was his idea and he's not even a member of the boards! Yet....I'm working on it. :-)

There is another thread with exactly this topic. These days you can get a nice Canon with a 35 or 42X zoom for $199. The other thread has a lot of different suggestion, including getting a gently used higher end camera. I always like a zoom when cruising because sometimes there are things on deck that are far away. Even though I carry a pocket camera (as one of three) I like the ones that are not bottom of the line as those tend to not work well in low light (and there is plenty of low light on the ship).
