FLL public transit ??

Will be in FLL for a day or two pre-cruise - so my public transit question: What is the acceptable method of payment on the transit system, especially for short term visitors? Are passes or single-trip tickets required or is old-fashioned cash in a fare-box OK? Don't really want to purchase a multi-trip pass to get from point A to B and back again :rolleyes:.

Sun Trolley: http://www.suntrolley.com. If you are staying in the 17th Street area this may cover all your transportation needs since it goes to the beach, Las Olas Blvd, Galleria Mall, etc.

Glad I could help. There is one other means of transportation that is highly recommended: the water taxi (http://www.watertaxi.com). It is a hop on/hop off service and the captain provides a commentary during the trip. It really is the best way to see Fort Lauderdale.

And again, thanks. That is exactly the reason for my original question. Although it is a straight shot down 17th from the Embassy Suites to the nearest Water Taxi stop,it is a tad too far to walk for someone with minor mobility (use a cane) issues. Looking forward to the visit.

Understood since it is about 1 mile to the Hilton Marina. The sun trolley terminus is in the harbor shops shopping center right behind the Embassy Suites. That will be a much shorter walk. Enjoy Fort Lauderdale and your cruise!

Public transportation accepts cash only, and exact change only.

The 40 bus and Suntrolley both go from Embassy Suites to the beach/Galleria Mall, so if you have trouble standing around just take the first one that arrives.
