Please advises what to do in Hamburg / Germany

Can anyone advise what is the best way to spend a post cruise day in Hamburg. I am not the type of tourist eager to spend time in museums. A good local guide for a walking tour would be a good recommendation for me. Any others tips are welcome.

There are several terminal in Queensferry (Edinburgh)- Scotland, or only one? If there are many please advise how can I find the info where the ship will be docked (MSC line). What is the best way to travel between port and tourist area? Some recommendations for tasting some local food?

What to do in Hamburg? Miniatur! Yes, this sounds weird but its within walking distance for most cruise ships and the place is just strange enough to be fun.

Hamburg is a nice vibrant city!

You can do a boat trip on its lake, the Alster, or on the river Elbe.

You could visit the Reeperbahn, a seedy area like the Red Light District in Amsterdam, with trendy nightclubs and bars.

The park is really nice, and there is a nice zoo.

You can go on a guided tour into the historic townhall.

You can walk through the old pedestrian tunnel under the Elbe.

You can go to the historic fish market.

The centre is great for shopping, by the way.

Eat fish along the harbour.

If you are up for it, you can visit former concentration camp Neuengamme

You can stroll along the historical houses on the Deichstrasse, there are some really nice restaurants there.

Hamburg is a real theatre city. There is an opera house, lots of theatres, several big musicals are performed here (Phantom of the Opera, Aida, Lion King, etc), there is an english speaking theatre, the new Elbphilharmonic.

You can do a tour of the Airbus airplane factory

You can go inside an old Soviet submarine docked in the harbour

You can go on the train to Lübeck

We hopped a train and went to Lubeck. Toured around the old city....it was great :D and rainy :( .

We did the hop on hop off bus that stops where the ship docks. It was a great tour and plenty to do in the centre with great open air food market.

Yes there is only one dock at queensferry. We took a private taxi at the gate it cost about £25 or there are shared mini shuttles. We got the train back which was quicker and cheaper but a 10-15 minute walk back to ship. We had planned to take the train into Edinburgh but it was rainy heavily and knew there was a walk. Have a look on goggle maps to see the distance

We loved the miniature railroad! Really impressive and huge with both day and night shows, airports, Florida, Paris, the Swiss Alps. Great way to spend some time and see something different!

We ended our cruise in Hamburg last year and did Miniatur Wunderland first. It was interesting, but there were soooo many people and with all the body heat, I just got too hot, so we left after about 1-1/2 hours.

We also did the hop-on hop-off bus and found that interesting to see all that Hamburg has to offer.

There are several free walking tours...just google "walking tours Hamburg" and you'll find a number of them. Also check Tripadvisor.com forums and reviews of guides.
