Ferry to another island from Piraeus?

I've been to Athens 4 times and would rather take a ferry to another island for the day. Since tons of ferries leave from Piraeus, I think it should be doable. Has anyone taken a ferry to another island?

Yep, and we did it on a regular port day. We grabbed a high speed ferry over the island of Aegina which is about 17 miles from Pireaus. We spent the day exploring some of the island, took a swim in the sea (not far from the ferry pier) and had a wonderful lunch at a restaurant with an outdoor dining area just across from the ferry pier. While it is possible to reach a few other islands, Aegina makes the most sense because of its closeness to Pireaus.

I have to agree. Agenia is a special place. Try to go to the cathedral.

you can go to hydra as well or spetses and poros nice islands very close to athens served by high speed ferries
