Celebrity ships - Kettles on board?

RCI/Celebrity provide kettles, mugs, tea bags etc on ships leaving the UK. I believe they're removed when sailing back across the Atlantic.

I don't think kettles are a fire hazard so much, because they probably use the European socket. I've only been on RCI, but their kettles were "plumbed " into the socket- you couldn't remove them- so they would be thoroughly checked.

The majority of UK managed ships provide their own kettles in each cabin, so it was a good idea for these two lines to do the same, as that's what Brits expect!

Most kettles aren't a fire risk - but some models draw current that's too high for cabin wiring, and kettles brought aboard would also need to be checked for defects that could cause a fire. Ditto flat irons.

Hence you can't take your own kettles aboard, but cruise lines are confident with theirs.

As Jo's post, RCI/Celebrity know that we Brits like our morning cuppa & provide kettles & tea makings on cruises out of the UK. :)

But they seem to think we only drink tea.

I don't recall Celebrity, but certainly RCI don't provide coffee in their cabins.

So take a jar of your favourite instant ;)

JB :)
