Thanks for any 1st hand info. Locomotiveman TOM If my memory serves me correctly, the dock in Manzanillo is a freight terminal, and they have a shuttle that takes you to the downtown area where the taxis and tour peddlers will deal with you. jakers Posted March 9, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 9, 2014 Cruise ships in Manzanillo dock downtown. You walk off the ship and you are in the downtown area. There is very little to see and few shops for tourists. You can hire a local driver with a van to see the sights. Outside of the beaches, there is little to do near town. We have found the drive out to the turtle sanctuary to be both scenic and informative. While you are there, you can tour the estuary in a small boat. On the way out, you will pass by the mango groves and the coconut farms. We have done this tour with the cruise ship and a private tour. The private tour is nothing more than an english speaking guide who hires a van for transport. You see the same sights.

One gets off the Ship in Manzanillo, then you must take a SHUTTLE bus to a nicer area, where you will find the various Tours, Guides, congregated.?? Locomotiveman TOM No, for many MANY years the cruise ships ported in a ship yard, with a shuttle bus to the Malacon area Now there is a cruise pier right in the Malacon area (near the giant metal sailfish statue) What ship are you porting in Mazanillo on? We would love to return to Manzanillo, but very VERY few ships port there anymore

pulledporky Posted March 10, 2014 #8 Share Posted March 10, 2014 It's been three years since we were last there, but there were very few opportunities to hire a guide or grab an excursion once on shore. As mentioned, there are so few cruise ships stopping they're not geared up for it. You can use google map/earth and see the layout of the pier/malecon area.
