Oasis Of The Seas Expert Posted February 25, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 25, 2014 We are leaving Orlando and going to Fort Lauderdale on Friday, and I was wondering what would be the best route for us to take? We have our car and will be using it, no public transit. We do NOT have a sun pass, so we want a route with minimum tolls to save time. We want the route that would be the quickest with those factors. Here is what I had in mind: Take Florida's Turnpike down to Fort Pierce area, and get on I-95 S. Take 192 E until reach 95 South. Corby114 Posted February 25, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 25, 2014 That is the easiest way to get from Orlando to the Fort Lauderdale area. The trip is approximately two hundred twenty five miles and usually takes me between 3 1/2 to 4 hours. On the Florida Turnpike I usually drive around seventy miles an hour and other vehicles pass me like I'm driving in reverse. Most of the time I'm not in any rush. tunaman2011 Posted February 25, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 25, 2014 Greetings Take the turnpike. No need for a SunPass between Orlando and Ft Lauderdale. You can take the turnpike all the way to I-595, you can get off in Jupiter at exit 116 (Indiantown Rd) where I-95 and the turnpike almost touch, or you can switch over to I-95 as you mentioned at exit 152 in Ft Pierce. Those are probably listed fastest to slowest. US 192 is a two lane road most of the route to I-95. You can save a few dollars, but IMO it is not worth the hassle. You can also take the "Beach Line" SR-50 east (the road that runs right past the airport) to I-95 but that is also toll. Good Sailing Tom
