Pinel Island via kayak? possible?

I read somewhere but cant find where, that you can take a kayak to pinel island. Does anyone know how to do that. Where are the kayaks? How to get there from the cruise port? If not via kayak, do you take a ferry to Pinel island?

You can kayak to Pinel - the rental place is in same place as where you get ferry - opens at 9:30 (I think) - google Caribbean Paddling.

You could take a taxi to the ferry terminal at the Cul de sac ( where the ferry to Pinel island leaves from) and rent a kayak from Caribbean paddle. It's getting a taxi back that is a little worrisome for lots of folks. If you are interested in this then I would suggest getting in touch with Caribbean paddle and discussing the ride back to the port with them. They would be very smart to have a shuttle or even a guarantee to be able to get a taxi to come and get you in the afternoon.
