pklein9747 Posted September 27, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 27, 2014 We're looking at the Hampton Inn Downtown for next May but are also considering the The Maxwell which is around the corner. Leaning toward the Hampton because of the included breakfast. Is there anywhere near the Maxwell to get breakfast? Do like that the Maxwell has a free shuttle, though. Which would you choose? P.S. Price difference is only $20 more at the Hampton Inn and we would also get points.
mapleleaves Posted September 27, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 27, 2014 Both hotels are in Lower Queen Anne which is residential therefore restaurants, grocery stores, drugstores, etc. Maxwell is a little closer to Queen Anne Ave where is where the majority of restaurants are located. Either option is good! Maybe look thru reviews on tripadvisor; sometimes the comments help with the decision.

I would take the $20 and use it for breakfast at Toulouse Petit, a short walk from the Maxwell, and IMO the best breakfast in Seattle. Then use the Maxwell's shuttle to go to the Pike market, maybe back via the monorail. Or, if you want, after Toulouse Petit, it's around a 10 min. bus ride to downtown - bus stop across the street from the restaurant. Then back on the monorail or the Maxwell shuttle. Hamptons are great - but they're functional, not fancy. If the Maxwell is actually *cheaper* book it RIGHT NOW! If the queue for breakfast is too long at TP (which I also agree is the best brekky in Seattle, though unfortunately a lot of people know that so it is outrageously full esp. on weekends) try Peso's next door. Same owners, same standards, much quieter, Mexican rather than Cajun/Creole.
pklein9747 Posted September 28, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted September 28, 2014 Thanks for all the input. Booked the Maxwell...got a great deal...just a little over $200. Decided that since we're not really big breakfast eaters and the Maxwell has a Keurig in the room with real creamers (DH hates that powdered stuff!) as well as a small fridge, we can do fine with just coffee and some donuts or something from a local store. And will definitely have to try Toulouse Petit one morning for breakfast.

There's a little espresso bar inside the Maxwell's lobby - their breakfast sandwiches are pretty good, and they offer several pastries too. If you're walking to downtown, go along 5th to stop in at Top Pot for a vast array of fried dough options.
