Manchester airport lounges

Recommended Posts

We are flying from Manchester with Thomson to meet the Celebration at Barbados. We believe we shall be departing from terminal 2. Has anyone any experience of the Escape Lounge or the Styal Servisair Lounge? Not sure which to book or neither. Grateful for any opinions.

We have used the Styal Servisair lounge in the past and found it very good. We always book the lounge no matter which airport in the UK we are flying from. If you work out how much you would spend on food and drink in the airport, it usually makes it very worth while. Plus comfortable seating, not crowded, pleasant atmosphere, newspapers, magazines etc.

cant comment on manchester but gatwick lounges...imo...not very good value (unless you like a good couple of free beers at 6am) otherwise its cold (tiny) bacon rolls and weetabix

plenty of reasonably good restaurants at gatwick (jamie olivers/cafe rouge/garfunkels etc) where you can have a decent breakfast for half the price and a reasonably good view of the runway from cafe rouge

We used to get the Servisair one at Manchester for free, was Ok for free but I wouldn't pay for it.

They used to have a toaster in the mornings, it was great but they got rid of it because of elf & safety, cereals and dried up croissants last time we went in.

Not worth it unless you are going for a drinking session before you fly, and it's free drinks on the plane from November anyway.

The few lounges we've used in the UK (previously free on Diners Club) were more or less glorified snack bars, certainly not worth paying upwards of £15 for.

Overseas lounges experienced were variable, some excellent, some much the same as here.

Copenhagen, Dubai and Singapore were very good - I suspect that the bigger the airport, the better the executive lounges.

DC now charge £15 per person per visit, however as we have no annual membership fee we've decided to retain the card for possible use where the facilities are worth paying for.

I have used all the lounges at terminal 2.

Used Escape Lounge prior to flying to Barbados in March. Real value for money, (check website). Staff will make bacon and sausage butties in the morning in addition to the cereals and pastries.

Going in again when flying to Rhodes in 2 weeks, but this time looked for and got a 10% off voucher. £31 for 2 of us. Cant have a couple of drinks each for that in the bars

The trouble with airport lounges is that they are not open during the night. We live nearly 90 miles from Gatwick, so often have to go overnight for an early flight. Sometimes there is not even anywhere to sit. It is so annoying to find people sprawling over 3 seats in the departure lounges

We now find it is better to go up the night before, check in our luggage, stay at the Premier Inn for around £35 and at least get a bit of sleep :)

We don't eat much before a flight, just have a coffee and a croissant , so not worth paying for an airport lounge :)

We always use the Escape lounges at Manchester as they are superior to servisair.Nice and peaceful with hot baps and toast in the morning and soup and sandwiches and salad later .Most drinks included. We say if we can afford to fly we can afford the lounge and compared to the cost of the cruise it's not an issue.Only thing is that Escape in T1 is superior to the one in T2 probably as it's newer.
