funinthesun1964 Posted November 6, 2014 Author #126 Share Posted November 6, 2014 So we're was this picture taken? Without a Serenity deck I'm trying to scout out quiet and shady places that are out of the way. This looks like it might fit the bill! hmmm...think...think....think....* knocks on head* I do believe it was taken right off the atrium on deck 3...there are chairs out there....if not it could be deck 10. You will find a quiet and shady space on deck 10...you just have to be there early to claim your seat! Enjoy!

funinthesun1964 Posted November 7, 2014 Author #128 Share Posted November 7, 2014 Not a sunny day today, for sure. We went to buffet for breakfast. I had the Blue Iguana burrito. Yummy. Gloomy skies All the towel animals had a comfortable seat No one at Red Frog yet No line to get a towel! Yep, rain is around.
funinthesun1964 Posted November 7, 2014 Author #129 Share Posted November 7, 2014 We go downstairs to get ready for our day and I take a pic of the long hallway. There is our room steward Ari. It is hard to see him because the picture is so dark, I know. Well maybe it isn't looking so bad outside after all.... funinthesun1964 Posted November 7, 2014 Author #130 Share Posted November 7, 2014 We were approached by a young woman in this area trying to sell us on a tour. We just told her that we weren't sure what we going to do at this point.
funinthesun1964 Posted November 7, 2014 Author #131 Share Posted November 7, 2014 We decided to check out the golf cart option. Should we do it? DH is a professional driver, he can handle it.
funinthesun1964 Posted November 7, 2014 Author #132 Share Posted November 7, 2014 Bikes? Too much work. Besides, these golf carts have lids so we won't get wet in the rain.
funinthesun1964 Posted November 7, 2014 Author #133 Share Posted November 7, 2014 We paid $60 for the golf cart. We negotiated for that, and couldn't believe they wouldn't deal more. We could have it for as long as we wanted it. So we decided to go off and explore. Old part of the port area DH feels like he is at work.

funinthesun1964 Posted November 8, 2014 Author #141 Share Posted November 8, 2014 We came across a church, must have been the smallest church ever. No priest inside or anyone else, for that matter.

funinthesun1964 Posted November 10, 2014 Author #143 Share Posted November 10, 2014 (edited) We came to a place in the road where we had to turn around. It was private property. When we got to the end, there was a guy selling coconut water. I walked a few feet to the water. Skies were looking threatening. funinthesun1964 Posted November 11, 2014 Author #146 Share Posted November 11, 2014 (edited) I tried to get the little guy's eyes in the picture. This dog was barking at us. Didn't appear to like us at all. This was by the lighthouse. Edited November 11, 2014 by funinthesun1964
funinthesun1964 Posted November 11, 2014 Author #147 Share Posted November 11, 2014 The person at the golf cart rental recommended a place for us to go for lunch. We could have went anywhere, but we thought we would give it a try. We got a bucket of Pacifico and some nachos. It was good, and reasonable. There was a bar to the left, a store to the right, and restrooms in between.
SMSACE6 Posted November 11, 2014 #148 Share Posted November 11, 2014 loving your photos, and especially Costa Maya, have been there twice and am so glad you got outside the the shops area at the pier. Would have loved to have done a tour like you and your hubby did, to see the real sights and sounds of that area. Also loved the photo of the little chuch. It reminds me of one my friends and I stumbled upon while in the alps in Austria (or could have been Germany), forget now, because it was so long ago, we were all in our early 20's, but we were hiking up in the hills above our hostel, and came out of the trees to a beautiful green pasture with the sweetest little church, much like your photo, just two or three pews. I have never forgotten it. Thanks again for your review and wonderful photos.

I'm having so much trouble for some reason tonight with posting. Just now, I had a post with pictures and text all ready to go, then I hit "preview" and after that it would not post. I then lost everything I had written and the pictures I had tried to post. Will have to try again. It helps to know that someone is actually benefitting from my troubles! Thanks. funinthesun1964 Posted November 11, 2014 Author #150 Share Posted November 11, 2014 So, after we were done eating, the rains came. And it poured. I went into the shop in the above picture and bought a red top. We then went in between shops, as there were many lined up in a row. We browsed, and by the time we had gone in and out of the shops, we were drenched just from that. We decided to give up and take our golf carts back. Glad we had roofs on them. After we turned our golf carts in, we had a little ways to walk back to the ship. By this time, we were SOAKED. A nice little unexpected surprise, a Carnival employee had warm towels waiting for us when we boarded. And they were warm like they had just come out of the dryer, warm. So nice. I really appreciated this. And now I must tell you that I have made an error in my review. The events from the previous night at Roatan, happened tonight. For example, tonight was the second formal night, so tonight was the night we went to the buffet for dinner. Also, tonight was the night that we had our picture taken in the bathrobes. (By the way, we were really laughing about that. The photographer must have thought we were crazy!!!) Also, tonight was the Gold, Platinum Diamond Party. I took some pictures while there.
