checking sodas in NOLA

hey sorry if this has been asked but I ran across something the other day that said you can't put on luggage tags on sodas and check them in NOLA, they said something about you had to carry on yourself? has anyone personally experienced this? I would like to know before we cruise in two weeks on the NCL Dawn. thanks for any responses

Yes, New Orleans is one of three U.S. ports that make you carry your water/soda on board. It is an issue with the dock workers, not NCL or any cruise line. We cruise from NO every year and for the past six it has been the same.

ok thank you very much for your response, we cruise out of NO for the last few years but we have never tried to carry on sodas.
