When I arrive back to Southampton Cruise Terminal on 12th September on Adventure of the Seas I am flying to Dublin from Southampton. What is the best way to get from cruise terminal to Southampton Airport and approximately how much ??????? Thanks for any advice. Judy

Simplest for the 8-mile transfer is by taxi.

A metered taxi from the rank at the cruise terminal will cost about £18 - £20.

Pre-booked about £12 to £14, try http://www.westquaycars.com

Journey time 20 minutes, more like 30 minutes between 7.30am & 9am.

Or frequent trains from Southampton central station take about 10 minutes & cost about £3 per person. Destination is Southampton Parkway/Airport, just a couple of hundred yards from the airport's single terminal. But that involves about 15 minute walk from your cruise terminal (RCI are almost always City Terminal) to the station. A taxi from ship to station would pretty-well wipe out the savings. No need for a timetable web-link, 3 or 4 trains per hour.

There's a bus service (Uni-link Route U1) every 15 minutes from the rail station (or Portland Terrace at West Quay Mall is a little closer but it's uphill). It can be used by the public but it's geared to the university so the route is via the uni campus & takes about 40 minutes. Rarely used by cruisers.

Just £2 pp.

Cruise lines sometimes run a payable shuttle to Southampton airport

You have an option of a flight from Bournemouth airport (about 22 miles) to Dublin but the cheaper airfare would possibly be wiped out by the approx. £50-£60 cost of a private transfer.

Both flight options are with budget airlines, fares are flexible - usually far cheaper the further out you book - but do run a dummy-booking first, including your planned luggage, cos the add-ons can add significantly to the cost.
