Bequia, Grenadines Info. For Cruisers

We just returned from a Caribbean cruise that visited Bequia. We had a terrible time planning this port because the cruise line didn't offer anything until right before the cruise, to rent a private boat would cost $700, and there were hardly any vendors noted on TripAdvisor. DH did plenty of research and determined that we could easily walk to Princess Margaret Beach and Lower Bay Beach, so that's what we did.

The walk along the beach is pretty, and then you come upon a sign warning that the coastal trail is closed. You can still take it at your own risk. We saw old people successfully manage it, but you do need to be able bodied and careful. To round the point, you walk down the trail, hug the stone cliffs, and walk along a narrow walkway, avoiding the broken walkway that was washed out. Once past that, you're at Princess Margaret Beach. At the end, is a cool little cave area to walk through for pictures. The water was nice. To get to Lower Bay Beach, walk up the trail to the road and back down the road on the other side. You're there. There was a restaurant with steel drum music and one with a tree swing. Both were nice beaches, but I personally preferred Princess Margaret Beach. There are restaurants along the way, but nothing stood out too much to us, so we ate back onboard.

Bequia residents were nice and friendly, and the beach was nice, not exceptional, but nice.

We did a catamaran trip from St Vincent to Bequia. We stopped at Princess Margaret Beach which has good snorkelling at the south side around the rocks. At the north side is Jack's Beach Bar which offers excellent views. After the beach, the catamaran berthed in the town for us to spend an hour there.
