Mark_SD Posted May 27, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 27, 2015 Hello! We are interested in starting our visit of Pompeii from the Anfiteatro (amphitheater). Is the closest entrance Porta di Nocera? Can we purchase tickets at Porta di Nocera or can they only be purchased at the main entrance Porta Marina? Is Porta Ercolano the closest entrance to Villa dei Misteri? Thank you! bugeater2 Posted May 27, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 27, 2015 We took the bus from the port and walked to Porta di Nocera entrance. Didn't do it on purpose, just didn't know any better. The ticket booth opens at the same time as the Marina entrance does. We were there early and had the back part of Pompeii with just a couple of other people for about the first hour or so. Enjoy. euro cruiser Posted May 27, 2015 #3 Share Posted May 27, 2015 (edited) There is no Porta Nocera entrance. There are three: Porta Marina, Piazza Esedra, and Piazza Anfiteatro. If you want to enter near the amphitheater (#60 on this map: http://unicocampania.it/files/mappe/mappa_scavi.pdf), the entrance you want is Anfiteatro.
