Last minute excursion because change in ships itinerary

Just found out we are switching stops and now heading to Ocho Rios.

Haven't been there so not sure if it's safe for us to walk off the ship and just book an excursion with the locals hanging around the pier.

Any thoughts. ..

I would not do it. But there a beach in walking distance I have never been to that beach but I know their one their.
