I'm visiting cherbourg in november 2014 and have heard about horsedrawn carriages that meet the cruise ships and take you on a tour of the town. Is this right? Does anybody have any more info. Prices etc. Where they drop you off and how far is it back to ship. Cheers Trev.

No personal experience, but November doesn't sound like prime-time for a carriage ride in Cherbourg.

Likely to be a little cold for that, & consequently probably no carriages operating.

But I stand to be corrected. ;)

  • 2 weeks later...

I was not on a cruise in Cherbourg, but in July I've not seen any horses around the city. I think there was a little tourist train driving around.

If you stay in Cherbourg and don't make any tour, then I can recommend you to visit the great museum "Cité de la Mer".
