We are in port from 7am till 11pm on Thursday Dec.11th. and are looking for ideas on how to spend the day. None of the excursions offered by Royal Caribbean appeal to us. Ideally we would like to do a combination of an airboat ride and a shopping trip. Can anyone recommend a good excursion company? Or would we be better hiring a car? Do any of the rental companies pick you up and drop you back off at the port? Thank you.

Yes, car rental companies will pick you up and drop you off.

Rent a car.

Go to Vizcaya in the morning then head over to Coral Gables or Coconut Grove for lunch.

What kind of shopping are you looking for? Upscale? The Shops at Bal Harbour mall.

Keep in mind the airboats are not allowed inside the Everglades National Park because they throw off so much noise pollution.

The best tours in Miami are offered by Dr.George with The Historical Museum of Southern Florida. Fabulous and if they offer the tour of Biscayne Bay on your date, it is a DO NOT MISS!!

Thank you for all the information we will definately look at hiring a car.

Shopping wise we are looking for a large mall, preferably with a cinema so that my husband can watch movies whilst I shop! We also like Outlet malls. Can you recommend any?

Renting a car is your best bet. That way you can go anywhere you want.

Great shopping centers in Miami : Dadeland Mall, The Falls, Aventura, Dolphin (outlet mall), and of course, Very high end = Bal Harbour.
