? Venice to Civitavecchia by train?

Trenitalia will only show you the most direct routes, which are via Termini.

You could book via Florence on a Frecce, then a regional to Pisa followed by another train to Civitavecchia (depending on the time of day this train could be a Frecce, an IC, or a regional).

While it's possible to do this on an embarkation day it's risky. If you're traveling the day before and will be spending the night in Civitavecchia it will work fine.

We've done the reverse trip by train; (Civitavecchia-Venice) post-cruise. First we took the train to Pisa and hopped off to walk to the tower and baptistry, then walked back to station and headed towards Florence. We got to Florence by check-in time at our hotel. Stayed there a couple of days. I wished we would've had at least an extra day! Finally, on to Bologna (for lunch and quick walk) and back on the train to Venice-got there in early afternoon. Great trip and not incredibly expensive. We did splurge and got 1st class tickets on First and Last legs, but I don't really think we needed them.
