spkinva Posted March 5, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 5, 2014 We're having trouble trying to decide which beach to visit in Antigua. Have any of you been to Jolly Beach Resort? Valley Church Beach? Coconut Beach Club? Grand Pineapple Resort? We'd appreciate some info.

We got off the ship, asked about catching a taxi. We waited until 3 more people from our ship came up and asked about going to the beach. For the 5 of us to and from the beach was $16 each. The driver stayed with us at the beach. We rented a two chairs and a umbrella for the day for $20. There is a little bar/grill located on the beach with drinks, snacks etc and they also have free Wi-Fi. We stayed at the beach about 4 hours and it was more than enough! It took us about 15 minutes to get there from the ship. Enjoy!

The only issue was that the water was rather cloudy. This was from the very fine sand(like powdered sugar)being churned up. As in in beach there, you will be set upon by local vendors. They are not as aggressive as others we've seen. Our excursion was a Celebrity excursion & it came with a nice lunch. You can do better by taking a cab there. They have a nice little restaurant with really good food. Taxis come & go so you shouldn't have any problems. If you go on your own there are loungers & umbrellas for rent. Skip the umbrella & situate yourself under one of the many trees.

wallypbear Posted March 16, 2014 #5 Share Posted March 16, 2014 Not the easiest place to get to Carlyle Bay, you do not have to be a guest to enjoy the beach. Public parking is just past the Carlyle Resort.
