Default Internet Cafe onboard Princess--how much?

Okay, I know that I read this somewhere but I can't find it now. A friend of mine said it is $30 a minute!!! I know that's not right. Can someone let me know. Also, I hear that the connections are slow. Was that your experience?

Thanks!

On the Coral the cost was .35 per minute and at times the connection was very slow. I used the internet service in the ports at times which I found to be much cheaper. In Costa Rica the cost was $3.00 for 30 minutes.

Either the rates have gone down, or each ship has different charges. I was on two different Princess ships in 2003 (Golden and Sun) and both charged the same; $7.50 per 15 minutes. That makes it 50 cents per minute. They only sold time in 15 minute increments.

Is there internet access in the rooms, so that you can use your own laptop? If so how much is the connection. When we were on the Adventure of the Seas, it was $100.00 for a week, unlimited minutes.

Default Man, we're in the wrong business if that was true!

I wouldn't have to find too many people willing to pay $30 a minute to make a nice income off an internet cafe!

Happy Cruising

The prices actually do vary by ship. On the older ships (Sun, Dawn, Grand), the cost is $.50 a minute. On the newer ships with the dedicated internet cafe open 24 hours, it's gone down to $.35/minute.

Unfortunately Princess does not have in-cabin internet access yet.

On the Caribbean Princess, it was $0.35/minute.

It was supposed to be open 24 hours a day, but b/c of software problems, it was preventing people to just swipe the cruise card and surf.

So they staffed it until midnight, recording the time you came in and the time you left. When we were there, only 1/2 the computers were working, so I had to wait. The person in charge only billed me for 15 minutes, which was generous, since I had so much trouble.

In Cozumel, it was $0.15 cents per minute, but the connection was even worse.

Diamond it was .35 a minute or about $7.50 to open a single email, I don't know who sold em on the idea of dial-up but it is remarkable the speed the ship makes dragging that phone line.
