Should I switch to Disney?

I am booked on Enchantment of the Seas for 4 nights in August. Now, for a 3 night Disney cruise in September it is 100 dollars less. I love all things Disney, buy is 3 nights too short? We would give up our balcony and a sea day.

I think I saw your similar post on the RCI forum. I would think the responses would be the same. I have been on both and it depends on your level of Disney-itis. You will pay more on Disney, no question. The quality on Disney on my one cruise was incredible. I have three girls, aged 8, 7 and 5, so Disney is heaven for them. The shows are the best I have seen, very similar to Broadway.

Now, my two RCI cruises were good. One was on Majesty and the other Brilliance. Both were good and I had a nice time. The shows on those two ships (not even sure there was one on Majesty) were ok, at best. The staff were very friendly and the food was pretty good.

So, it depends on how much you love Disney because you will pay more. I will also said they have the best value for future cruise bookings while on ship. You get 10% off and $200 OBC per stateroom. This is can be combined with any OBC you may get from your TA (you must specific your TA at time of booking onboard). It is a far better deal that I saw on RCI and am seeing on NCL.

That's my two cents...and good luck!

Which Disney ship are you looking at? Although I do cruise on other lines, I always ship DCL - no pun intended, because it is my favorite line. But, 3 days is hardly enough time to do much IMO. I would never do a 3 day cruise with any line.

If you really want a feel for the experience Disney is famous for, you really need a longer cruise. More time to get to know the servers who rotate dining rooms with you is one huge plus among many.

3 nights is way too short. Keep looking for off season bargains an do the cruise when you can do at least 4 nights.

I agree ! Three nights is way too short. For a little more $$$$$$$$ get the longer cruise. JMO Don't forget the free soda ! LOL LOL

I like ya, but this where you and I diverge. I've only done a 3 day and it blew my mind and restored my love of cruising. If 3 is all you can do OP, hit a park day or two and take it- its AWESOME. It made a 7 day on a Carnival look like a boring week of trivia. If we hadn't gone on our 3 day, we wouldn't have been on any Disney cruises, and now we are hooked. We are booked for a 4 day because we want a sea day, but I wouldn't take back that 3 day for anything. It was magical in every where. I grew up on RCCL but they haven't done anything to interest me in a decade, whereas our whole family cannot WAIT to get on Disney (and we are all couples with no kids) and I couldn't even remember what the last Royal ship I was on was called. Disney was SOO memorable, even for a 3 day.

Cruise the maximum you can, and if it's 3, do 3! if its 4, do 4! If you can do a week, go for it, and I"m jealous! :D

Yes, try DCL, if you are Disney fan you will like it much more than 4 nights on Enchantment. The neat thing about sailing DCL is that you are able to sail the newest class on 3/4 night sailings. RCCL has mostly it's older ships sailing short cruises.

Book it before the price changes. If you really need more time to decide........ book it before the price changes and think about it until final payment is due...........

He said in his post that a cruise on Disney would be $100.00 less so why would he pay more?

I agree! my 3-day had me hooked! I booked another 3-day for this August! yes, a 4 day or more would be grand but we live in Florida and a 3-day is just two days off of work and we're on whenever we like :D

Recently came back from a 3-day on the DCL Dream....Awesome experience but definitely not long enough. Especially when my partner and I discovered they had "Disney on-Demand" (every Disney movie ever made) on the last night of the cruise.:(:(

We have changed our minds. We are still going on Enchantment with the whole family, but we are planning a 7 night on Fantasy or Magic with just me and another family member. It will be more relaxing and we will be able to get a nice, long cruise.

Just got off the 4 night Dream in Nov, and we LOVED it...no kids, 2 seniors, LOL....been on the Enchantment, not bad, but not nearly in the same league as the Dream, IMO...also, the Dream is newer, has more perqs, and you just can't compare a 84,000 ton ship to a almost 130,000...we were somewhat bored on the Enchantment...she's not like the Oasis/ Allure of the Seas, where if you are bored, you should have an MRI ASAP..I'd even cruise the Liberty Of The Seas 4 or 5 nighter before I'd cruise the EOS..great ship the Liberty, and soooo much to do.....it's not always about the $$, it's what you GET for your $$...do the Dream, she IS a Dream!

To me, the 'casino' style cruises (CCL, categories lower than Oasis on RCI) are basically like eating at your typical chain restaurant. Its nice, its food, you can probably find some things you like and its a fair value. But sometimes you want more than 'alright', sometimes you want 'special', and that is why you will go downtown to a really nice or highly reviewed restaurant, even though it may cost more (or, the equivalent of several of the chain restaurant meals, maybe it costs the same for one meal versus 3 or 4 at the cheaper places). Can you go there all the time? No, but it IS a wonderful experience for special times. Disney Cruising is special. You can't really compare it with "you get more days on a bargain line" because it's like eating more often at the chain restaurant, but that doesn't make it a better value than the special restaurant. More sea days does NOT equal better ship experience. I would take my 3 day Disney in a heart beat over a 7 day casino style cruise any. single. day. of. the. week. I had only ever done 7 days prior, and never thought that anything less would be a good value. But that was just how that year went (it was impromptu with family after the disappointing CCL with friends) and boy did it change my mind. Thankfully our rewards card paid for half of our upcoming cruise and gives us 6 months free anyone on Disney vacations, so there is no reason so far to go on RCI...
