Beach with chairs and umbrellas?

I'm having a hard time searching on my phone, so I'm sorry if this has been asked and answered. We're going to be in progreso next month and are interested in going to the public beaches right off the shuttle. Is there a place where we can get chairs and more importantly an umbrella? We have a 2 year old and are all very sensitive to the sun. Thanks in advance!!!

If you get there early you can have your pick. The bars and restaurants will even serve you on the beach.

My husband and I went to Progreso beach right off the shuttle. You will be bombarded with people wanting money or selling goods. It will not stop the entire time you are there. Even the people in the water and sunbathing were bothered. I would try to find a place away from the shuttle if you want to have a relaxing time.

Oh, that's disappointing! I'm used to some vendors but it sounds like that was excessive. We'll probably still try but be willing to head back of its a problem. We want our son to get some beach/sand/water time.
