Back from our Sensation cruise of 7/2

We are back from our Sensation cruise that departed from New Orleans on 7/2. We had a great time. Tropical Storm Cindy prevented us from going to Costa Maya so instead we spent 2 days in Cozumel. That was ok but missed hitting the Casino that night! We booked an oceanview gty room and did not find out our cabin # until we arrived. We ended up in cabin # R36 but is the best I could of expected since we booked only 14 days before departure. The ship is, as mentioned before, very purple but very nice. We had a quad room and when the 2 uppers were down made for some very careful navigating to avoid head trauma. ( My son came home with several battle wounds from the beds and I came home with one myself) The food was great, only one day of bad weather, which did not slow us down at all. The only complaint I have is the floors at the Buffet on the Lido deck were very slippery. Had to do some careful walking to avoid a total wipeout. Camp Carnival was, as I knew from other posts, very difficult to find but the staff was great and my son enjoyed it tremendously. The adult Karoke is not to be missed. We laughed so hard at some of the attempts to sing. We enjoyed all of the shows, and the bingo games although we did not win anything at bingo. I did win $250.00 in the casino on the second day and a friend that went along won about $600.00. All in all a great trip on a great ship that I would not hesitate to sail on again!

Jjdmom8, We leave the 25th and can't wait. Nice to hear you had a good time. Can I ask what you played in the Casino when you won? :D

I was playing a 4 reel slot machine. It was the one on the end of the island at the lower door entrance ( between the elevators and the bar in the walkway outside the casino..You will see it if you walk around and check out the exits.... Hit 3 blazing 7's betting max coins ( 3 quarters) My friend hit 4 deuces on the quarter video poker machines in front of the cashier... Max bet is 10 quarters, but she was only betting 5. She hit it twice on 2 different machines..once the 1st night, and again the second day....Then lost for the rest of the cuise. Best of luck to you..Hope you win big!

Jjdmom8, Thank you! I really was just wish to know if you were playing slots or cards but the actually machines is exciting to know. :D We are very "entertainment gamblers" and try a few times for fun. We went to Vegas a few years ago and we never won, in fact my husband even lost money in the pop machine at Treasure Island.

Thanks for your review. I am going with 2 girlfriends in September...any chance you can post some pictures? I am not finding any recent pics of the Sensation..

Also, was the odor that everyone talks about a problem to you? I don't know if I can stomach smelling sewage smell.

Pictures, anyone??? :)

Well, the food would be an obvious photography choice! :) :) Smart man!

I clicked on the link excati.linkopp.net but all it gave me was your countdown clock. Any advice?

SO glad to hear there was no odor...:)

  • 2 weeks later...

I was on your cruise and was looking at your pics and saw myself and my son in one of them. It's photo 17 of 74 looking at NO off the rear deck! My son is the little one in the yellow shirt picking up something and I'm beside him with my back to you in the khaki shorts! How neat!:)

Delpha, have you been to our August 13 Sensation Roll Call thread? There's only about four of us, please join! We're trying to plan a meet and greet wearing our boas!

I called Carnival today and changed our dinning from early to late. When is yours Magic City Cruiser?

Hey, Honeybear...I keep forgetting to look! My docs are in my "safe place" where I won't lose them (actually, it's my underwear drawer) and the puter is way downstairs..lol. However, I'm pretty sure it's late dining because I wouldn't have chosen early but since DS did the reservations....isn't there more than one "late" seating or is that some other ship? ANYWAY, we gotta figure out how we can all sit together..lol!

I "think" you are right. Ours is at 8:00 but I'm told that is subject to change, but not without a squabble. Any later and I'll starve.... lol ;) We changed ours because my DD thought the kids would rather do the late dining and I want to be on deck when the ship leaves the dock. Also just once, I want to see the sunset.

I'd love for us all to get to sit together at least one night!!! I think the boas are going to be a fun idea! I'm glad you thought about it. :D
