SB Studio Balcony reclassified to SD from 25 June in China

The SB - Super Studio Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony - (NEW) that was introduced on Quantum as a innovative solo cabin is changing classification in China to become the SD - Deluxe Studio Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

with the arrival of Quantum in China and the new deck plans on June 25, 2015.

This change has not been reflected elsewhere at this time.

It was always odd that this category stated double occupancy allowed, yet no single supplement.

On cruises with price reductions, standard cabins became less expensive than this option in some cases.

The SB and SI categories were excluded from earning an extra C&A point for solo travelers introduced in October, 2013, meaning that passengers wanting to move up the loyalty program ranks were incentivized to switch cabins if other options became affordable or in many cases less expensive than this new cabin type they had booked.

For instance, the November 2 TA cruise went from having all cabins booked the first day that the sailing opened for sale to having 8 of the 12 cabins available a few months prior to sailing. Most of these had moved to other inside or outside guarantee fares that were considerably less expensive, while rewarding twice as many C&A points.

A cabin photo has now finally been added to the SB description, while not the SD description. The text of the descriptions of the old and new cabin type are currently identical.

As of November 24th, 2014 the Crown and Anchor Terms and Conditions still only restrict the SB and SI from earning the bonus point for solos.

This would seem to indicate that if a solo books a SD following June 25th, 2015, they should be able to get the extra solo point.
