g>ravel Posted May 6, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 6, 2017 The Veendam has arrived in Montreal for the season and docked at the temporary dock used in the past. Will they be there for the complete NE-Canada cruise season or move back to regular docks? Anyone know?
Rare StartrainDD Posted May 6, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 6, 2017 Just off Veendam this morning. We were supposed to use the renovated port but due to flooding and high water levels were told we could not fit under the bridge. Believe they will use the downtown dock later in the year. Rare 1of4 Posted May 6, 2017 #3 Share Posted May 6, 2017 Parts of Montreal are flooding and more rain falling. It may take a month to clear. Lake Ontario is the highest in 24 years.
g>ravel Posted May 7, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted May 7, 2017 Thanks Star and 1. After seeing where V-dam was docked, I was rethinking hotel locations.

Jolie_Cruiser Posted May 7, 2017 #6 Share Posted May 7, 2017 The state of emergency in Montréal has been declared for 48 hours for now. Only certain areas of the city are affected (not close to the Old Port area).
Jolie_Cruiser Posted May 10, 2017 #7 Share Posted May 10, 2017 Good news, the flood waters have stabilized or are receding. The state of emergency in Montreal has been extended to Sunday mainly for safety. I am no hydrologist, but from what I have seen on the news, if it doesn't rain too much the water levels should be back to normal by the end of the month. Sadly, many homes are badly flooded and the poor owners have a lot of work and hardship ahead of them. The areas affected are not "tourist" areas such as the Old Port or downtown. The airport area is ok too. If your cruise ends or starts in Montréal in May, the ship might have to dock again at the temporary terminal which was used last year and on May 6th (berths 34-35).
