gift basket ideas

I am looking for some ideas of useful thing that I can put in a gift basket. I want to put this in my friend's room as she sails on her first cruise. All I have come up with so far are:

night light, candies, plastic wine glasses, bottle of wine, neck strap to hold room key.

Looking for inexpensive, useful, fun to get things.

What about disposable underwater camera. small bottle of hand sanitizer , or small pack of wet wipes for taking ashore. small bottle or travel pack of dramamine. Packs of gum, pack of post it's for leaving notes to room stewart on door (need extra towels, ect.)...What a great thing you are doing!

I was just at our local Michael's. In their $1.00 area. They had some really cute travel items, all for $1 each. They had note pads with a pen, decks of cards, journals, stickers,

a small flashlight and some others. I think they would be cute for what you want.

The gift basket company I work for makes baskets for several t.a.'s Some items we use again and again are:

Lip balm with high SPF

Stain removal wipes like Shout

Small bottles of ibuprofen/asprin/etc

Small container of TUMS or other like product

Jounal w/pen

Breath mints and gum

Cheap blow-up air mattress for beach -leave behind for next guests!

Inexpensive visor or cap

Lucky dollar or two for the casino

Flavored drink mix tubes like Crystal Light for water on board

Small bottle of pre-mixed drink for the night before - to get the party started!

Great idea. I always do this for out of town wedding guests for family and friend's weddings. If I have room in my suitcase, maybe I will put one together for my MIL and FIL who booked the cruise for us. I always add small bags of snacks i.e. peanuts, cookies etc., small packs of tissues, bottled h2o, pain reliever, small first aid kit would be great too. The list could go on and on. What a sweet thought!

I would add an outlet extender so she has more than one plug and maybe a plug in or small air freshener... We always use those when we cruise.

I also have a stash of gum, nuts & candy just in case. A few ones for room service tips and don't forget to have some sort of door sign to help her find her way back to your cabin after a few drinks... The doors all look the same to newbies... Actually the doors all look the same to all of us:D

Have a great cruise, she is lucky to have such a thoughtful friend cruising with her.

I'm doing a birthday cooler (regulation size 12"x12"x12") for my Mom this year since we are going on the same cruise. I have included so far: highlighter, LED nightlight, and a power strip. I'll be able to add a few more items from this thread. Thanks for all the ideas!

I see there has been a spark in this thread. I am currently organizing what started out as a few couples getting together. None of them (other than us) have cruised before. Now we are up to a group of 24 people, most of them first time cruisers. Although we are not cruising till next year, I will make up "cruise care packages" and give them out as Christmas gifts. Keep the ideas coming!

I did goodie bags for my teen niece and nephew and friends for our cruise...they were nice surprises for them...almost everything I had in the bags has been mentioned already in this thread...there may be a few things not yet mentioned: magazine, puzzle book, novelty tropical-themed earrings or other jewelry, travel-size hand lotion, hair scrunchies
