  1. I hope you say the same when people complain about a truck driver who makes 80 grand, or auto plant worker making 60+ grand, or any other working stiff. I am like you, I cannot care less what CEO's make, but I also hate when people question what every day working people make such as a teacher, a police officer, a Railroad worker, truck driver, auto plant worker. It seems far to normal to question these salaries.

I AM a working stiff... a truck driving working stiff, and I don't question anyone's salary. That's the point. It's none of my business what the CEO of Norwegian makes, or the lady that makes my Dunkin' Donuts coffee every morning, or anyone else I come in contact with on a daily basis.

I care about two salaries-mine and my wife's. That's it... Anyone else, earn as much as you can. I promise, I won't be jealous!

  2. Why are people so obsessed with what other people make?

The CEO of TripAdvisor, Stephen Kaufer, made over $39,000,000 in 2015. TripAdvisor owns, among other sites, Cruise Critic... Why hasn't the OP revealed his or other CEO's salaries? Will the OP boycott CBS since Les Moonves made over $65,000,000?

    Who cares?

  3. Well that looks like progress, at least!

I agree! Although, I'm surprised to see Dogfish Head 90 Minute on tap. You think they'd have 60 Minute IPA instead. DFH 90 is awesome, but I don't know how many I could drink as opposed to DFH 60 minute. Not complaining, just a bit surprised. :D

We'll be on the Jewel in Sept. and I hope to see a few good beers on tap...

  4. Two years ago we went to Alaska on the Sun. We booked our Juneau whale watching tour with Harv & Marv's. Unbelievable! Best excursion we've been on, bar none. I think we had a total of ten people on the boat. Saw tons of whales and they made a stop at the Mendenhall Glacier on the way back. We decided to stay at the glacier longer, so we took a taxi back ourselves to the port. Look up their reviews on these board or TripAdvisor... Definitely recommended!

  5. I was in "Donna's" aft suite :D (9076) for Alaska in 2013 and have a few photos of the interior and the balcony in my Smug Mug album here.

The Sun remains our favorite ship and 9076 our favorite cabin.

I was also in "Donna's" cabin (9076) last year on our Alaskan cruise. I think my wife and I made a mistake when we booked that cabin for our very first cruise. It's all downhill after that suite. We just returned from a Norwegian Fjords cruise on the Star and although the cruise was awesome, suite 9232 on the Star couldn't hold a candle to 9076 on the Sun.

I'm afraid I'm gonna be like a heroin addict, chasing that elusive first high...

  7. I haven't been in the BW Oceanside, but I can at least tell you about the neighborhood. It is about a block away from the beach, so it's a great location for a beach walk.

There are a few restaurants very close by( 1-6 blocks): 3030 at Marriott(Upscale), Sea Level at Marriott, Mexican at Sonesta Hotel, Bahia Cabana at Days Inn, Oasis Cafe, something else at Bahia Mar Hotel.

There isn't any shopping really close. Beachplace is about 1.5 miles north. Harbor Shops and Southport shopping center are about 2 miles south. Las Olas Downtown is about 2.5 miles NW. Galleria Mall is about 4 miles NW.

Thanks for the info. Guess we'll just hang out on the beach. Life can be so tough... :)

  8. I just went on Tripadvisor and read a few of the one star reviews. The manager of the hotel, Izzy, should teach a college course on how NOT to run a business. His responses to some of the reviews are priceless. Should be required reading in Business 101...

If Rodeway ever fires him, he has a career as a stand-up! What a tool...

  9. Any thoughts out there on the Best Western Plus Oceanside Inn on Seabreeze Blvd? We'd just be staying one night before cruising on 11/28 so basically just need a place to hang out for the night, maybe do some shopping/walking on the beach and grab some dinner before grabbing a cab the next morning to Port of Miami.

Nice neighborhood, things to do nearby, etc.? It has good reviews on TripAdvisor... Thanks!

  10. Neither was I. I would guess that the passengers didn't read the part of the menu that said there was a service charge and then when the room steward showed him the bill, he was surprised and refused the food. When I'm in a hotel and I look at the room service menu, the first place I look is the bottom to see if there is a service charge or automatic gratuity. If there is a service charge, I don't order through room service and if there is an automatic gratuity and I order room service, I adjust what I would have tipped accordingly.

But this wasn't a hotel, where room service usually DOES involve a charge. If you were under the assumption that room service was free, as it's always been on NCL and was up until this past week, why would you think to look at the bottom of the menu to see if anything has changed?

  11. There exists an historical example of the failure to support others because we are not affected. While there is a huge difference in seriousness of the results between the example and our NCL discussion, the logic is the same.

This thread has officially jumped the shark. Uniall, as much as I agree with everything you've said and as much as I disagree with NLH Arizona (how you can continue to try and defend the indefensible is beyond me. It boggles the mind!), the instant someone introduces N a z i s and/or Hitler into the conversation, it's over.
