  1. The laundry for sheets and towels and such, and the dry cleaning facilities are totally different.

Crew uniforms are dry cleaned, but I believe they have to pay for their personal clothing to be done, so a fair amount may choose to use the self-service crew laundry. Presumably the dry cleaning equipment is set up to accommodate a certain amount of items. Obviously they account for passenger usage (complimentary and paid) in that capacity.

In some voyages I'm sure it's not a problem if the passenger demand is higher than expected. On the Royal transatlantic that everyone talks about, there were nearly as many Elites as crewmembers, so it's not hard to see how the system could get overwhelmed.

  2. Personally I would like to see all of the alcohol threads merged into one big discussion and made sticky on page 1. No need to start individual topics for every new question about alcohol which invariably all come down to the same answers. That way someone with a question about bringing alcohol onboard would see the sticky discussion and can start reading and likely come to the same conclusion as I posted above without having to go through this exercise every other day.

There are the Princess rules and there is what really happens in each individual case. All you can do is get onboard and let us know how it went when you are back home.

Hear, hear! I agree with Terry.

  3. I believe it's designed precisely to share promos based on loyalty level or targeted promotions -- you can "share the savings" with someone who's not yet entitled to it. I don't think it was ever intended to let you offer your price to someone else indefinitely, months later.

Like many things, they could probably explain/implement it better!

  4. Do you leave the water running in your sink in your cabin all the time just because it's free, too?

If you know you're sharing a limited resource, it's nice to do so responsibly.

  5. I'd imagine the issue is that whether the Share the Savings button shows on your personalizer is based in whether you're booked under a promo code that allows StS (not all do).

Your issue is that the promo you booked under is over. So, while you can share that code, it does them no good, as it's not a current promo being offered.

It sounds like a glitch with the website, which needs to do a two step check - is the promo code part of StS *and* is that promo still available.

  6. Princess can't guarantee what the insurance company will do because that's for the insurance company to determine the claim. If, for some reason the claim is denied, you will still get either 75% or 100% back as a future cruise credit. It seems like you want Princess to just ignore the way the process works.

I'm sorry this accident happened, and I hope your father recovers quickly.

  7. There are also targeted promotions that get sent to specific past passengers that are tied to their specific Captain's Circle number.

I once saw two couples who lived in the same town who were all Elite book a cruise, and the offer was only available to one of the four. Luckily most targeted promotions allow the Share the Savings feature to share the rate with other cabins.

So yes, "your" rate can be totally different than everyone else's.

  8. Tell Princess to process it without putting in an address (if they tell you it won't work without an address, tell them to try). Since gift cards don't have your address associated with them, having the ZIP in there can cause the error.

  9. I had to cancel the cruise due to medical conditions related to that cortisone shot and Princess then told me that the insurance only went into effect when the final payment was made, so my claim was denied so I lost a lot of money.

Didn't you receive 75% as a credit for a future cruise? Princess should have given you that even if your claim with the insurance company was denied.

  10. Princess's requirement for a pre-existing condition is that it has to have been "stable" in the 60 days before the insurance becoming effective (no changes in medication, etc). The effective date is the day you pay for it.

As Colo Cruiser noted, it covers your air at no extra cost if air is booked through Princess.

And it's completely refundable up until final payment for your cruise, if you choose to pay for it at the time of booking (or any time before final payment).

  11. As noted above, the baby will be too young to cruise with you.

If the baby had been old enough, you would have had to be in a cabin that accommodates at least three people, as the booking system won't let you add more passengers to a cabin than the cabin's official capacity.

  12. Sorry for assuming that your wife would be in the same cabin as you. The rule is that all adults over 21 must purchase the alcohol package, and all under 21 must purchase the Ultimate Kids Package.

Under 21 but over 6... you don't have to get a soda package for a child under 6.

Also, for under 21, that applies to all children in your cabin AND linked to your booking. So if you have the adults in one cabin and your teenagers in another one, you still have to get them the Ultimate Soda Plus More package (or whatever it's called).
