  1. We're on this sailing and have been watching prices etc almost daily for the last 6 months and although there have been a few price decreases she seems to still have a lot of availability. I counted over 88 balcony cabins (most in 3+ pax cabins) not counting that D8-D5 are all listed as guarantee cabins. 26 JR suites, now these just did have a price decrease, they were at $3300pp now they dropped to $2600pp and a suite guarantee is $1700. Plus numerous other suites available. Less than 30 days out and RCCL is really holding firm on pricing too, Cheapest oceanview balcony is $1200 and Neighborhood balcony is $1100. Is this normal do you think with only 30 days out? And again this is just balconies, I didn't check any other lower categories.

I looked at Freedom, same week, she was on the going going gone sale for $799pp in a balcony and all she has are e3's.

Just seems weird that there is still that much availability and they aren't discounting really at all. Hopefully it stays that way and I can see if I can upgrade at the pier:D

We are on this sailing and booked our CL suite a year ago on the Adventure. I just checked the price and right now our room is over $3000 more than what we paid for. I think that two weeks ago RCCL had a sale that got the price close to the one we paid, but not less. The SLS and the RS are still available, hope RCCL will give me a call for an upgrade or upsale. It is difficult for suite guests to believe in the Upgrade/upsale fairy, but a girl can always dream. :)

    Merry Christmas and Happy Cruising!!

  2. You must wait until you are onboard to purchase in order to get the discount.

On Oasis, I believe the D discount is $30 and the D+ discount is $60.

Thanks Clarea!!! right now my cruise planner is showing $22 per day for two devices and $40 per day for four devices. I don't know if they will allow us to combine our two discounts. If not, it will be better for each of us to get the two devices offer.

Thanks for all your help and Happy Holidays!!:)

  3. I just looked and it's being offered for my Jan 2nd Oasis cruise. Too bad the diamond discount isn't per Device 😯

We are also on the Jan 2nd Oasis cruise. Do you know how much is the diamond and diamond + discount? Do I have to wait until we are onboard to get the discount?? We are diamond plus and always use the free minutes, but this offer sounds good with so many sea days. Happy cruising and Happy holidays.

  4. We are cruising on Celebrity Infinity thru the Panama Canal down to Chile in December. Never cruised on Celebrity before (NCL). I understand that the specialty restaurant US United States, has a cover charge of $35. That seems high. On NCL the specialty restaurants are $10-25.

If the specialty restaurants are that good, is it because the basic restaurants are not?[/

The only way we cruise with NCL is on a suite and dining in specialty restaurants most nights. Every time we decide to eat in the MDR we are disappointed. This is not the case with Celebrity. Although we have tried all the specialty restaurants we don't think is a must. Do your research and depending on the length of your cruise, give the specialty restaurants a try. Happy cruising.

  5. I kind of feel like you are yelling at me

But anyway, from my reading. If there is a family suite available with a non-suite connecting room then we are able to book all adults in the suite and put two kids in the connecting room. And from searching various threads I found someone in this situation who got this reply from Concierge:

"Although the Concierge Services, amenities and reserved areas for suite guests are exclusively for guests with Gold SeaPass cards only (suite guests), we will make sure we can accommodate the rest of you family as well."

So it appears they would let the kids tag along. So at least I have those answers and can make a more informed decision. :)

I also felt like he was yelling at me too. The Suite life is wonderful, believe me. The only problem is that once you try it is really hard to go back to a regular cabin IMHO. If money is not an issue, book the younger children on a cabin close to yours, that way your parents will have suite privileges. Although there are no written rules about the way a concierge will deal with minor children on a cabin close to the parents suite, the truth is that many concierges will let those minor children join the parents at the suite lounge.

We are going back to the Oasis soon and we are looking forward to try Coastal Kitchen. On our last cruise on the Oasis we were very pleased with the suites areas on the aquatheater and the ice show.

    Happy cruising!!

  6. No offense taken! We would prefer to eat more than pb&j and grilled cheese. That is usually all I have seen on room service menus. I admit to not having delved into RCIs room service menu.

We definitely need the 2 bedroom for space and storage.

Have you consider Celebrity?? Some S-1 suites connect to S-2 and both come with a butler. The only problem is that sky suites don't get access to the concierge lounge. Most Celebrity's butlers are wonderful, and IMHO the food is better than RCCL.

BTW, even though RCCL doesn't offer butler services, we never felt the need of one. The concierge will take good care of you and you can order from the MDR menu for every meal, including dinner.

Hope everything works out for you and your family. :)

  7. Are smokers responsible for other cruisers health problems ? Did we cause them? What about the COPDer who can't breathe if a whiff of smoke goes by? Did WE cause that? If a person has such issues, why do they go to places where there is potential exposure? If cruising is the choice, go on a line like Celebrity (and stay away from their tiny smoking area)

In some cases, like mine, they probably are. Back in the 60's the hazards of second hand smoke were not known. My dad smoked in front of my mom when she was pregnant and in front of us when we were kids. I remember developing a really bad cough that lasted months when I was probably eleven or twelve years old. After many tests, and many doctors visits, my dad was told to stop smoking in front of me and inside the house. In a matter of days, the cough stopped.

I adored my dad, who died from a smoke related cancer, but he did harm us with his smoking. My brother is also asthmatic.

BTW, we did move to Celebrity looking for a better smoking policy after a couple of cruises ruined by chain smokers close to our balcony. We only came back to

RCCL after they changed their smoking policy.

And if you are still wondering about the hazards of second hand smoking, please read...

  8. We've done several NYE cruises ( on RCCL and Celebrity) and last year was the first I recall reserved tables in the promenade. I don't recall the price, I just recall it was pricy. It is advertised prior to NYE. I don't know if all the tables were booked, as we spent last year at outside pool deck party. It was too nice outside to be in the promenade.

Enjoy, NYE on the ship is a great time!

    M

Same for us, this was our third NYE cruise and the first time we saw so many reserved tables. Don't remember the deal on the Promenade bars neither the price of the Dom Pérignon we had to buy to get a table on the Champagne bar. ;)

  9. Hope you have a great cruise with no smoke issues.

Hope so too. Didn't have any problems on the Adventure last year. I'm really sensitive to cigarette smoke but I don't expect a smoke free cruise, I respect the smokers areas, I just want to enjoy reading on my balcony without a chain smoker close to us. Nothing against smokers, my dad was one. He died from cancer related to his smoking, too soon, if you ask me. Miss him too much...

  10. This is interesting and good to know. Thank you. I will be sailing with my family of 10 over NYE on the Indy. I will ask about buying a table the day we get on. Is it something you just did with a bartender (gave a good tip) or was it something that was dedicated to purchase and swiped your card. Either way, I am very interested.

    Thank you very much!

My husband bought a bottle of Dom Pérignon to reserve our table, our friends did the same. The chocolate covered strawberries were part of the deal too. You can also choose the table you are reserving. Hope this helps and happy cruising. ImageUploadedByForums1447368491.166968.jpg.63d38c6df7ebd6f903869992271d8e6e.jpg

  11. Several posts in this thread have reported issues with Oasis not handling smokers appropriately while other ships do. This suggests those who prefer non-smoking cabin areas should avoid booking Oasis. It certainly strikes me as the quickest way to get the point across to RCI.

Didn't get the memo soon enough! We are cruising on the Oasis in January and hope we don't get smokers around us. We stopped cruising with Royal for a couple of years until they changed their smoking policy. We are booked on a CL suite, don't know how a concierge will deal with this type of problem if the smokers are on a suite too.

  12. Good evening, for those that have cruised on RCCL during NYE in the past, could you provide some tips and tricks to your favorite activities? We are sailing on the Navigator of the Seas and I am wanting to plan accordingly to make our cruise the best ever. We are staying on deck 6 and if I remember correctly on Voyager class ships there are four open balconies that overlook the promenade where I assume the action will be?

Thanks in advance for your tips and help.

We have done a couple of NYE cruises. Last year on the Adventure we "bought" a table in the Champagne Bar for our family. Most tables on the Promenade had "reserve" signs on NYE. If you want to be in the middle of the action ask the bar managers about the different offers to reserve a space.

  13. UPDATE:

We are looking at Allure in early February. We have two scenarios...

    (A) two side-by-side JS

    (B) a RFS beside a JS

The price difference between the two scenarios is $1100 total, or an average of about $30pp/night.

Though the booking will be 3 in one cabin and 2 in the other, our family of 4 will be in one suite with my MIL by herself in the other.

Is a JS big enough for a family of 4 with two young kids (nearly 4 and 6 when we set sail)? Or would you recommend the RFS (two bedroom, two bathroom, large balcony)?

IMHO you won't need the JS with the RFS. If your MIL needs a room for herself your children can share the sofa bed. If you book two JS they will have to sleep on a smaller sofa bed. The problem with booking your MIL on a JS is that she won't have suite privileges, like using the Concierge Lounge and dining in Costal Kitchen. Hope this helps.:)
