  1. There are clearly problems and issues! BUT, so what else is new with or different from many other websites with such a wide variety of details, info, options, potentials, audience interests, etc.? I checked the box for how they will work through it. It's a pain for customers. Always issues. BUT, here at Cruise Critic and at other places, there are quirks and mess-ups, at times. Nothing is perfect and/or always smooth at big, diverse websites. Am I too kind and understanding?

AND, we don't how much is the direct fault of the IT department versus others in management who fiddle around, create problems for the tech people?

    THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Back from doing a 14-day Celebrity Solstice, Jan. 20-Feb. 3, 2014, Sydney to Auckland adventure on this ship and getting a big sampling for the wonders of "down under” before and after this cruise. Go to:

    http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1974139

for much more information and lots of wonderful pictures on these amazing sights in this great part of the world. Now at 74,979 views for this fun posting.

You are too forgiving-- this is a simple failure in leadership. Put more value and focus on quality (meaning test and review before promoting functionality to production) and you will vastly improve the results. This is not so complicated a problem that it can't be fixed-- you solve by implementing processes and actions designed to insure and support the results you want. Ignore the process or utilize the 'Hope' methodology ( "we hope it will work") and you get the current circumstances. Focus attention on the importance of quality (agile re-iteration with QA testing) and the quality will rise. In other words-- you WILL reap what you sow.

This is fundamentally a failure in Leadership

  2. For our cruise out of San Juan we are also arriving a day early so when I did the check in I put the arrival flights (day and time) even though they are the day before we cruise and the departure flights day and time. I assume they are not wanting to know the exact minute you will be arriving at the port to board so......I gave them what we booked!!

  3. When you get to the embarkation desk, they always ask you for your charge card. Then...give them two cards, one for each. Shouldn't take but a minute more, if that.

Even if using one card, they still want to see that card, so registering two should be a breeze.

The above response is 100% accurate-- you will have no issues putting on both cards and it takes little or no additional time at check in

    Have fun and enjoy yourselves!!!!

  4. Was this your review of the cruise you're discussing now?

    http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=43651623&postcount=1

While your review does touch on some points that you have mentioned in this thread there are things (such as the cabin attendant) that you seem to now have a problem with...

I'm not sure what to think here.

I just read the link above on the review from the OP's review and I must say, I am completely confused and somewhat bewildered by this whole thread. The review has almost none of the complaints (with the notable exception of the "fresh juice" issue) that this thread has--

What is it exactly that the OP wants again?

  5. So let's see...

The LA Kings won the Stanley Cup this year. Check out their roster...

    http://espn.go.com/nhl/team/roster/_/name/la/los-angeles-kings

    8 Centres = 6 Canadians

    3 L Wings = 3 Canadians

    5 R Wings = 3 Canadians

    8 Defence = 4 Canadians

    3 Goalies = 2 Canadians

Grand Total = 27 LA Kings

    18 Canadians - 3 Europeans - 1 South American - 5 Americans

Seems to me 18 Canadians won the Stanley Cup for LA... And ya we are thankful. :D

    Cheers!

Spending at least 1 winter in the LA sun and I suspect they will be "former" Canadians soon...

  6. in the US some credit cards do not charge any international transaction fee and just convert the charge to their currency at a reasonably fair and equitable rate. The rate of conversion by X that I have seen is not as favorable-- however, if you are charged an additional international transaction fee in addition to the currency conversion rate; the Credit Card starts to lose its advantage.

I would suggest you ask your CC company what their policies and rates are as you may find them to be more favorable than using X's conversion rates

Good luck and let us know what you decide.

  7. Both DW and I are upgraded on the classic to Premium bev Pkg on our Summitt cruise this Nov but I have read somewhere that you can ask for the non covered specialty drinks (like at the martini bar) in a smaller size that then makes them covered by the classic package. Don't know this is true from personal experience (and probably never will as we both like beverages only covered on premium package) but I have read this on Celebrity blogs here on CC

    Just sayin'

  8. I am not dismissing it for those who like using one:).....banking?

Bill paying? I do that on my laptoop.

Home budget?...not sure I get that part. Shopping? I use my laptop

or actually go to the store in person:D

Some may laugh but I still use my old flipphone from Samsung.......

    It works for me.

And my mother-in-law still washes her dishes by hand--

"she don't need no stinkin dishwasher"

    Cest la vie!!!

  9. Pear martinis are good for your first go-- be carefull tho-- they creep up on you fast

My personal favorite is a slightly dirty Belvadere (vodka) martini up-- I prefer North Carolina dirty versus New Jersey dirty

My Dad's favorite though was a "Dickens Martini"-- What's that you say? No olive or twist

  10. At times there are shortages or price spikes in escargot, at those times they are not on the menu for one or more cruises until they get their supply back. When available, Celebrity has them on their always available menu in both the MDR and Blu.

When we lived in California we had hundreds of Escargot quality snails eating all the flowers--rather than putting poison out, we got a pair of snail eating box turtles-- Voila -- Escargot-be-gone!

  11. We have been to the southern islands several times and here is our recommendation

Barbados-- we hired a taxi and did a tour of the island and it was great and inexpensive but this depends on the number of [people you have-- Lobsters Alive good beach/food option for inexpensive day and the cave tour is nice as well or you can spend the day at the Hilton --nice beach but great pool

St Lucia--big island with lots to see --cool mountains with spectac views and variety of waterfalls and mud baths etc-- recommend a day long tour (like realstluciatours.com) or spend day at inexpensive all inclusive like Rendezvous

St Thomas-- great shopping but we love Sapphire beach

St Martin-- again great shopping and beaches are nice everywhere

    Antigua-- Church Valley Beach

    Hope this helps-- have fun

  12. San Juan is a very "taxi friendly" city. Fixed price zones. We stayed at the Sheraton a couple of years ago and the taxi fare to port was around $25, and that would have been good for 4 people. I don't know what your transfer cost, but I'll bet it was more than $6.25 per person.

We're doing same trip as your in November. We love those ports!

we are booked on the Nov 15 sailing out of SJ-- which cruise are you on dodger 1964?
