  1. Hi! My first Disney Cruise is coming up in December on a five night Wonder itinerary. I have heard about the Pirate night (special menu, deck party, fire works) but was wondering why in my cruise planning section it is listed as being held twice? It is listed for the second and third nights. Any insights? Thank you!

  2. I just booked a Disney holiday cruise and I noticed that when you go to the Disney Cruise website it has a picture on the opening page. If you wait a bit it changes to a Jack-o-Lantern and then if you wait a bit more it changes to a Christmas scene picutre and says something about holiday sailings. If you click on it it gives some descriptions of what a holiday sailing will include. Sounds like fun!

  3. That's odd. I typed in NCL holiday cruises and found your cruise listed as a Christmas cruise. We have cruised many times over Christmas and it has always been full of holiday activities from caroling, to Santa and special shows, meals, activities and decorations. We never looked for it to be advertised as a holiday cruise. We always assumed! Lol

  4. I would have to go with the around the horn South America cruise. Penguins, sea elephants, glaciers, fjords and the fun baptism ceremony when you go around the tip of South America. Also we were in the Southern Hemisphere, so there were star gazing lectures at night, where they would take us out on deck at night and use a laser to point out the southern cross and other constellations we don't get to see at home. Unforgettable!

  5. "Usually" they will take a look at your cruise card when you get in line for the tender. But stuff happens!

We met a man who had wandered onto the wrong ship (before all the really tight secruity). His card worked to get him onto the ship (same cruise line) and then he couldn't figure out why he couldn't get into his cabin. He found a cabin steward who realized the situation, but by that time the ship had left port. He was put on the pilot boat and taken back to port. His ship had not yet left!

  6. We have been cruising with our twenty somethings for several years now. They are always happy to be invited. They always find something to do whether it is trivia, hot tubs, or simply reading in a lounge chair. My son has a keen interest in eating, so of course he is never without choices! :D They both enjoy the white hot party (though that might be called something different now). As long as your son has someone to hang out with other than his parents all the time, he will probably have a great time!

  7. We were on the Jade this past spring and though disembarkation was supposed to begin at 8 AM it was closer to 8:30 before they started letting people get off. So you never know, a slight delay could throw a wrench in the works. We wanted a direct flight to Miami that left early so we waited until the next morning to fly.

  8. The Haven on the Jade is lovely! Very nice courtyard area and lovely concierge and butlers. Also, this is still a rather small haven, compared to epic and newer ships where haven has like 100+ guests.

Suites have the lovely concierges and butlers too. In fact when we were on the Jade there was a concierge and an assistant concierge who worked with the Haven and suite passengers. Had never seen an assistant concierge before.

  9. LOL!!!!

Easy for someone else to suggest the splurge - not their money. In reality 90% of the people either can not afford suites, or do not think it is worth it. If they did, they would sell our quickly. Apparently lots of people think insides and oceanviews are just right.

Right! Which is why we were very surprised he did not try to talk us into spending the "splurge" money on the Jade! We were obviously thinking about it. So we stayed with the Suite we had already booked.

  10. We were on the Spirit and had booked a suite on the Jade for an upcoming cruise. We asked a cruise consultant on the Spirit if we should consider upgrading to the Haven. He said in his opinion we should wait to splurge on the Haven when we go on one of the newer bigger ships.

  11. Sorry your cruise ended on a hectic note. We were on the same cruise this past spring and due to a comment a maître D made we checked our bill the last night and spent a long time at the customer service desk trying to prove that we really had paid for our UDP. Your right, it does take away from the glow of a fun cruise, and was not how we really wanted to spend the last evening on board!

I have enjoyed reading your review. Did you have the Captain who gave lectures about being back to the ship on time over the PA system? And other interesting talks? Lol

  12. Call us pigs, but we had teppanyaki for lunch on the Spirit covered by UDP and then went to another specialty restaurant for dinner-also covered under UDP!

  13. Yes the cabins do have safes and hair dryers. Wifi is available and rather expensive, there may be some discounts if you purchase minutes on the first day. They put stickers on your cruise card to show that you have purchased drink packages.
