  1. We Just booked a B1 aft facing balcony stateroom on deck 8. Hope someone here can help me with MORE questions.

Are there lounge chairs on the extended balcony?

Does the shower have a door or a curtain?

What is the difference in Skyline dining room and Liberty dining room?

Do they seat you with others or can you request a table for two?

If they seat you with others do they wait for the table to fill before the orders are taken?

Do they have sweet n low in the buffet or dining rooms?

What can you tell me about “latitudes”

I’ll have some more questions later..thanks.

We were in a B1 aft facing balcony in Dec. on POA. There were no lounge chairs on our balcony. There were two chairs and a tiny table. The shower had a curtain.

The LIbery dining room was a ""designated" venue for traditonal cruisers who like to dress up, and include the followig dress code: Women: slacks or jeans, dresses, skirts and tops: Men: slacks or jeans with a collared shirt and closed toed shoes. Kids under 12 are welome with nice shorts to any of our dining rooms."

  2. We Just booked a B1 aft facing balcony stateroom on deck 8. Hope someone here can help me with some questions about the stateroom and the ship. Here goes.

    Is the balcony covered?

    How big is the sofa?

Is the refrigerator just a mini fridge with stocked items & can we have those removed or remove them ourselves?

From the NCL booklet there is a layout & picture of a balcony stateroom that shows a desk/vanity in the corner by the balcony door, is it as teeny tiny as it looks and are there any drawers or mirror there?

Would a hanging organizer be helpful? Are all the walls metal?

Besides Liberty, Skyline, Cadillac Diner, Aloha Buffet & room service is there anywhere to get pizza?

What are the other included eating places?

Does anyone know if this balcony is about the same size as a Oasis/Allure balcony room? They are pretty small.

I know I’ll get my answers here on CC and I’m sure I’ll have some more questions later..thanks.

We were in a aft balcony in December. Just think small. Small cabin, small balcony (two chairs), small desk, small sofa! The sofa will fit two sitting on it, but only one sleeping on it. That is why the cabin holds up to three people. If I had three people in there I would go nuts! Bathroom -tiny! Fortnately you don't spend a lot of time in the cabin.

The balcony was partly covered. Did I mention that it is small? lol Also, the balcony slidng door was really messed up. Hard to lock and unlock. At first we would think it was secure only to discover later that it had slid open. But we eventually got the hang of it.

Yes the desk/vanity is small. But there must have been a mirror there because I am pretty sure that is where I blow dried my hair and put on makeup. The tv has been updated. I don't know if the walls were metal or not.

There is also food at the Key West Bar and Grill in the afternoon/evening. It is included.

  3. I was really looking forward to trying Moderno based on discriptions. There were not many people eating there and it was very slow. I did like the salad bar, though it was not as big as I thought it was going to be. I think what really got to me though was when the lady with the skewers of meat offered me lamb and I said no thank you (not being too keen on it) and then she came by with pineapple and I thought I would just try a bite of my husbands so again I said no thank you. She reached over and turned my card from green to red and said, "then madam must be done!" Yikes

PS They were also unhappy when my husband asked to keep his soup spoon when they tried to remove it after our trip to the salad bar. He expressed interest in trying one of the soups later in the meal. They said the spoon would be in his way, so if you can imagine my husband playing tug of war with the waitress over a spoon and me playing flip the green/red card with the meat server then you have some idea of how our meal was going! lol

  4. Thats too bad, it has been our favorite on ships that had it. Love the salad bar they have

  5. Probably my most memorable cruise! The hardest part is packing for warm weather and very cold weather. Cruising through the fjords seeing glaciers, standing on the balcony with snow coming down (we live in Florida so this was a big deal for us). Seeing penguins and sea elephants on excursions and going around the horn was just amazing! We were lucky the sea was fairly calm for our journey around. After we went around the horn there was a big pary on deck and we danced and stood in line for the Captain to baptize us as real sailers now that we had gone around the horn! We all got certificates too. At night they had a star gazing program and we were shown the southern cross and other constellations we were not familiar with. Wonderful! Amazing scenery, holiday activities and meals. Maybe I can talk my husband into doing it again!

  6. If you have the money to spend it should never end. Enjoy life while you can because you can't take the $$$ with you when you are gone. Look at what happen right now around the world many millions are suffering so I'd never complain "Where does it end" if I can afford a butler and a concierge. Life must be exceptionally good and it all could ended in a nano second when the next monster "asteroid" hit. It happened to the dinosaurs.

Ok..........Your aren't an assistant concierge by any chance are you? We tipped him too, I promise! (Very sorry about the dinosaurs).

  7. Go to the Dixieland Jazz Jam in the Atrium (our cruise it was Day 2 at 9:45 PM). They put up extra folding chairs for seating but we ran upstairs to the Blue Lagoon and sat at the railing looking down and shared a piece of cheesecake! Great music!

  8. I was going to say the same. Also the furniture is an eye catching purple and green and the seating is fun. Try out a two person lounge!

There are some beautiful Hawaiian decorations and beautiful glass work which made me think of Venice (Murano glass).

  9. Yes, I was serious. Did I miss something?

People were posting that OP needed to hurry back to find out whether the father survived, and I simply posted that it was in the title, that he did.... so they needn't worry.

How is that an OMG moment?

She also says in post #46 that dad is watching soccer and that all is well. So glad to hear that!

  10. We have an aft P/H on deck 8 and my parents have a larger forward P/H on deck 9. We are also travelling with friends so they will be at least 12 of us. Any thoughts as to the better place to watch us sail out of Venice?

We could go up top for the sail away party but we thought we'd do that in the second week when we will have different people with us.

It depends on what you mean by forward. If it is in the very front of the ship so that you can see both sides of the waterway then that would be nice. We were in an aft penthouse on deck 10 and enjoyed the view from our large balconey very much since we could see Venice on one side and other islands on the other side. Twelve on the balcony might have been a little crowded though. Enjoy!

  11. For those who have disembarked.... do you HAVE to leave bags out the last night? I have read mixed reviews on this. We would like to do a self-disembark because we have an early flight out of VCE at 11:35. Any info on this is greatly appreciated!

I wish I could answer this more definitely. We have taken our luggage off ourselves on other cruises so I didn't even realize that this might not be an option! Since we were on a tour we put our luggage out in the hall the night before. The next morning we had breakfast and then went to the star dust theater at 8:15 to meet for the tour. Unfortunatley we went via deck seven and there was a very very long line of people waiting to get off the ship and the ship had not even been cleared for disembarkation yet. We were trying to get by people in line and people coming from the other direction with our hand luggage and it was not too easy. Did some people have luggage? I am sure some did. The ship was cleared shortly after we got to the star dust theater and we were led around the masses to the front of the disembarkation line. Even then we stood for maybe 5-10 minutes until they started letting people get off. It was pretty slow going. I think there was one part of disembarkation where you have to go down an escalator and there is only one elevator available. Maybe that is why they don't encourage self luggage handling. Sorry, I wish I had paid more attention!

  12. We will be on one of the future Jade voyages and wondered why options were offered for excursions at the end of the cruise? Ours is so far in advance that they are not listed on the website. Just curious ;)

The reasons varied in our group. Some had late afternoon flights and didn't want to spend the day in the airport. Some, like us, had early flights the next day and wanted something to do before check in time at the hotel. Another couple was renting a car at the airport later in the day and another couple was getting back on the cruise ship for a second week of cruising. All lugguage is stored in the luggage compartment of the coach bus. We had been in Venice for a few days before the cruise so we decided to go on the tour to the city of Padua. The other tour was visiting the main sites of Venice.

  13. We got off the Jade in Venice two weeks ago tomorrow. The ship did not clear until about 8:20 am. We were going on an excursion with NCL so we were allowed to skip to the front of the line. If you are in a suite you should be able to disembark promptly also. We were in a suite and the concierge told suite passengers what time to meet for priority disembarkation.

  14. Malaga is easy to do on your own! We took a cab to the Castillo up on top of the hill and worked our way down into the city on foot. Ended up at the marina and then at the beach near the ship. We visited the Castillo, the Alcabaza, Roman theater, the Picasso museum, did some shopping, stopped for gelato, ate a late lunch in the marina area and then took a walk along the beach near the ship. Really nice day!

  15. We had heard that the walk from Alcazaba up to the Castillo de Gibralfaro was quite steep so we chose to get off the ship and take a cab all the way up to the Castillo. Up there you can walk on the fortress walls for stunning views and visit a small army museum. Then we walked down to the Alcazaba (the residential palace) with its beautiful gardens. From there we strolled to the Roman Theater, went to the cathedral and Picasso Museum, did some shopping and had lunch along the waterfront. After lunch we walked along the beach and then back to the boat. So very lovely! What a great day.

I think it is so interesting that everyone wanted to see the Mouse boat. We were on the NCL Spirit and I guess it wasn't anything to get excited about!

Your pictures bring back great memories. I hope to get back to Malaga sometime!

  16. My husband and I took the Metro from the city center to the Port about two weeks ago. (no bags). At the port we hopped in a taxi for five Euros to the ship. But......on the metro there was a man playing with a lighter. Then three children got on and two started playing accordians while the third started yelling loudly and approaching people for money. They got off at the next stop and I could hear them in the next car. Then a young man got on and started walking up and down the aisle of the car talking very loudly. Uncomfortable ride, glad when it was over. Take a cab!

  17. Just off the Jade. We were in a penthouse suite. Never got an email, but did get a letter in the mail with luggage tags and info on how I could contact them.
