    Not True.

You can also do it if you are Platinum or Elite.

It was stated earlier in this thread... this long, long thread... Anyone booked before June 7 can use the DMW app.  Booked after June 7 the DMW app is for paid in full, Elite, and Platinum.

We are gold and are able to book all nights and use the "one" promo credit for the specialty restaurant.  Not sure I am going to do the complicated way to get the two free credits booked.  I will wait another month for the shake out cruises to happen.

As traditional dining in the pre-pandemic/pre "Dine My Way" sense no longer exists, the show time patterns may change.

They converted my traditional Dining reservation for a table of 2, late seating to 6:30 at a table for 4 in the Island Dining Room.  Any change I try to make still defaults to a table of 4 in the Island Dining Room, regardless of the time, regardless of making full cruise or day by day reservations.

Methinks it may take a few weeks/months for all the kinks to get sorted in the app and that those on the first few sailings are going to be dealing with problems even once onboard.  This whole change is a heaping pile of, well, you know what!

I see you are on the CB for 12/8.  We are on the 11/27 CB and are having the same problem.  Many nights the system only offers a table for 4 in the Island Dining Room.  It does not matter if you choose 5 PM or 10 PM.  There is ONLY a table for 4.  Hopefully this gets sorted soon.

  3. So, I tried to book seating tonight.  We want a table for 2.  To book the same time each night it will only offer a table for 4.  When I try to book individual nights, there are only tables for 4 on the first night no matter what time I pick whether 5 PM or 10 PM.  There does not seem to be a way to change the request for table size.

Those who choose dress like slobs(as you stated), will be the most vocal about not being told what to do by others. After all it IS their vacation & why should they care if they dress like Onslow!(my spouse's statements)Just wish the cruiselines would make some effort to enforce a basic standard, such as NO shorts at diner except in the buffet.

I do hope you are referring to Onslow in Keeping Up Appearances.  😀  I am in the USA and it is one of favorite Britcoms.

  5. DH @Ken-ATL and I gave up dressing up years ago.  We will wear a polo and slacks to the MDR.  On formal night we upgrade to a button up collared shirt.  Since the cruises we have done in the last few years have all been Caribbean, we have not felt out of place.  While some dress up, it seems the hotter the climate the lower the participation in dressing up.

And, yes, we used to carry a tux to dress up (see our profile pic).  Nowadays, it just not seem as important.

  6. Looks like there will be no exemption for unvaccinated children.

There is no age restriction on this series of cruises to Alaska but guests of all ages must be fully vaccinated.

    7/3/21 -

    possible ??

As it stands today (rules changing daily), if they go with a CDC defined fully vaxed cruise (98/95) then it is theroitically possible to do a 7/3/21 but not likely.  The ship would need to be in place, already bringing in crew, and vaxed.

But, who knows.  There have been wild swings in the rules.  The cruise lines seem to know what is coming but are not talking.

On our last cruise (on the Grand) we tried to call it a night early more than once; the bartenders at Crooners spotted us walking by to our cabins: "Tom! Jo! (Holding up the Tanqueray and Champagne) We're making your drinks!" No early nights for us. Love the Princess staff!!😍

This is why we will still use in person service when in the bar.  Sometimes the crew is the best part of the cruise.

yes - closer to the reader

I asked the question because I saw in new video they put out Monday, the "clerk" just pointed the reader at the person and it picked up the needed information.  So, I wondered if there was a need to ever remove the OM and move it closer to a reader.

We are researching the correct holder for the OM.  So, if it needs to be moved closer to the reader, we are thinking a reel type device.

  10. DH @Ken-ATL and I use ATD with a slight difference.  Since DH is uses a chair, it is sometimes harder to navigate the dining room when it is full.  So, we always head directly to the head waiter when we get onboard.  They set us up with a wait staff areas that has two or three tables we can get to easily.  So, when we make our reservation, it pops up on their screen to put us in that area.  Occasionally, we have to wait, but never has been long.  So, we get the benefit of ATD but get the same waitstaff every night.  It just means that sometimes we have to be a little forgiving on the wiat times.

The US State Dept Level 4 doesn't forbid one from traveling. They are simply advisories that tell you what you might encounter. Here's the list from https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-travel/before-you-go/about-our-new-products.html

Level 1 - Exercise Normal Precautions: This is the lowest advisory level for safety and security risk. There is some risk in any international travel. Conditions in other countries may differ from those in the United States and may change at any time.

Level 2 - Exercise Increased Caution: Be aware of heightened risks to safety and security. The Department of State provides additional advice for travelers in these areas in the Travel Advisory. Conditions in any country may change at any time.

Level 3 - Reconsider Travel: Avoid travel due to serious risks to safety and security. The Department of State provides additional advice for travelers in these areas in the Travel Advisory. Conditions in any country may change at any time.

Level 4 – Do Not Travel: This is the highest advisory level due to greater likelihood of life-threatening risks. During an emergency, the U.S. government may have very limited ability to provide assistance. The Department of State advises that U.S. citizens not travel to the country or to leave as soon as it is safe to do so. The Department of State provides additional advice for travelers in these areas in the Travel Advisory. Conditions in any country may change at any time.

    I hope this helps,

    Steve Dasseos

Steve, thanks for the response.  I think I need to explain a little more.  When Covid first hit, all of the YouTube travelers were in a hurry to get home.  Several of them stated that if a country is "Do Not Travel" by the State Department, their travel (medical) insurance would not be valid in that country.  I have seen that in the fine print of some of the travel policies I have looked at over the years.

I am thinking about the Bahamas being listed as Level 4 and cruises are leaving out of Nassau.  If one from the USA were to book a cruise that leaves out of Nassau, would we be covered?
