I thought I would be first at the station since I left so early. Nope. This train is sold out and there are already at least 40 people lined up. Amtrak really should do seat assignments to avoid this nonsense. So far, everyone I see are cruising…

(Also, the large phillipino family in front of me are discussing how they are sailing from Seattle to Vancouver, then staying on the ship to sail back down to LA. Uh-Oh. Do you want to tell them, or should I?)

If they are Canadian that should be fine, I think only US citizens/residents encounter a problem with this.  We thought of doing the same thing but DW was hesitant to take another two days off so we skipped this first portion.

  2. Up a pound - and depart in three days.  Sigh.  I know I ate poorly several days.  It's kind of like I have given up prior to departure.  We are only gone a week so when I get back, I will get back at it.  But on the cruise - it is full gulp and chomp!

  3. In our previous two bid attempts in March and April, we heard 3 weeks out and 4 weeks out of our bid acceptance (well, one was a counter offer which we accepted - it was a better deal than our bid - for a better cabin almost same price)

But on our October 12th departure, we have heard nothing and it is 5 days out.  Others on the same voyage have had their bid's accepted over a month before sailing.  There were at one point many cabins available, but three weeks ago they just shut off sales for the cruise saying "pricing not available", so I could no longer check on availability.  I think they were bumping people up with their bids, but not for us.

    100% frustrated.

You phone them and you get a patronising person saying "I'm sorry to hear that" when you complain. Then, after many pauses on hold falsely thinking they are trying to solve the issue, you get fed the usual text book response and after three or four of those kinds of calls, you get referred to feedback@princesscruises who are as unhelpful as the phone consultants. I will be letting my Travel Agent know of the issues I have been having and I will be finding an alternative cruise company, which is sad, because the staff onboard the ship were lovely.

Good luck, but you may find that just about all of the other mainline cruise companies have also outsourced their customer service and have similar levels of competence.

  5. We don't sail on the Sun until Jan, so can't comment on the temperature inside.  But the Caribbean outdoors in the evening is generally pretty warm for movies under the stars and such.  I usually wear just a t shirt - but also grab one or two of the blankets, because the wind can blow and rainstorms come and go.  So it can be cool on deck.

We are going on the Majestic in 10 days and here are the movies they are playing on MUTS (1 or 2 are in Vista because of language):

    Furiosa - mad max

    Anyone but You

    80 for Brady

    Argylle

    IF

    Little Mermaid

    Hunger games prequel

    Challengers

    Top Gun Maverick

    Bad Boys ride or die

    Spectre

    Dune 2

and some older ones like Ferris Bueller and Back to the Future

  6. 250 lbs on the Nose today!  2 pound loss for the week.  Started at 256 (male 6' 3").  We sail in three weeks.  Would like to lose 3 or 4 more pounds before then.  Will put some of that back on during sailing, but will then try to get back on track and get down to 240 by our January cruise.

  7. I just checked our Caribbean cruise for Jan 25 again.  No signage indicating 20% off like I have seen in the past - but indeed, all of our booked excursions were lower in price than when we booked them.  Rebooked all 4 and saved over $150.  Thanks for the tip.

  8. We are new to MSC but appreciate that MSC has status matched our Princess loyalty level and granted us Diamond status.  In reading the perks, it mentions a night of free specialty dining.  Can someone please provide info on any restrictions associated with this.  As in:

    1) is this perk limited to certain cruise lengths or any short cruise is also included?  (we sail on a 4 night in Jan and a 7 night in October with MSC)

    2) Are there any fees associated with this - as in are gratuities included or extra?  If extra how much are they?

    3) Are there venue restrictions or is this good at any of the restaurants?

    4) Are there menu restrictions - as in only certain items are included?

    5) Can you make a reservation before boarding to use this perk?

Thanks for any and all help.

  9. This was not a full week for me as I just decided to start eating a little smarter on the weekend, but still down 4 lbs this morning.  I consider this to be a good start, though I know the first week is always the easiest to drop a few lbs.

But I was on days off these past 4 days, so I walked a lot and held to regular eating times and patterns.  Now I start my 12 hour night shifts tonight, and I have tended to use food to keep me awake and going by grazing on quick convenient (high calorie) type foods.  I will try to curb that somewhat, but will not go overboard and defeat myself.

  10. Ok - I am here:-(

Not certain how this all works, but on surface scan simply looks like we weigh in weekly and report results here, so that is what I will do.

Need to be held accountable.   We sail in just over six weeks.  Overweight male at 256 lbs starting today.  Would love to be 240 by sail away, but I am pretty pathetic at this weight loss thing, so I will probably accept 245.

  11. My understanding from our experience in April on the Enchanted - the two included SD dinners (at that time it was two included) - there was no extra charge against our folio.  The one time extra we went for SD on our own dime the 18% was added and showed up the next day on our folio.

  12. Vancouver is our home port.  We usually target an 1100 arrival.  There will be line ups, but usually the lines move quite quickly.  There can always be glitches, but usually we are onboard within 45 min to one hour.

  13. Our daughter and son-in-law also preferred The Catch to the crown grill.  My wife and I also enjoyed it.  There is a surf and turf option.  There are obviously more cuts of beef available at the crown grill, but there are better kinds of fish at Rudi's.  I actually am in the minority, preferring Sabatini's first, Crown grill second, and Rudi's third, but all three are great so it's not a disappointment to do any of them.
