  1. So, finally got my new cabin assignment. Of course, now they are telling me that ALL aft balconies on Independence are for 3-4 person capacity. So, with only two of us, we cannot get an aft balcony. Third one I have had to give up with all these changes.
  2. A perfect example of why you should keep trying:) I called three times trying to do the same and was told I couldn't.
  3. I wouldn’t hold your breath. Now they’re telling me that all the room re-assignments won’t be done until mid-October. But don’t worry. Today is still the last day those of us with non-refundable deposits can get a full refund🙄.
  4. This is ridiculous. Now they’re telling me room re-assignments won’t be complete until mid-October, but today is still the last day I can get a full refund (non-refundable deposit). How does that make sense?
  5. Same here. Interesting how they're giving aft balconies to passengers who did not originally have them. Does Independence maybe not have the hump balconies? I'm not sure, but it doesn't make a lot of sense. I am just bracing for losing my aft. It was one of the reasons we booked Brilliance (which was in place of our August 2020 on Navigator that was cancelled). At least Independence is a bigger ship...
  6. Thank you both. We are in an aft balcony on Brilliance, but I'm reading that the aft balconies are technically a different category on Independence, so I anticipate losing it, which I am not happy about. However, we also got a good price on this one, so it's hard to justify cancelling...
  7. I have been trying to follow the threads re: all the Summer 2021 changes, but have yet to see anyone post that they have received their new confirmation/room assignment. The deadline to cancel for a full refund is tomorrow, which is when they claimed they would have the info to us (I was switched from Brilliance to Independence). Has anyone gotten their’s?
  8. This is the closest to my question I could find, so I hope you don’t mind me asking for further clarification, OP. Our sailing is 11-19-20 (non refundable deposit). There are 4 of us. So if I opt for a FCC prior to final payment, each of us would get $250 FCC per person, correct? When does that need to be used by? TY!
  9. Sounds like they switched you to the early seating for traditional dining. My Time Dining definitely didn’t start until 6:45 on Oasis. Glad it worked out for you though!
  10. Yes, this! We waited almost 30 minutes the last night and had reservations.
  11. I think that was the concept for MTD, but it’s turned into something else. You can try not making reservations, but if we waited when we had reservations, I don’t know how long those without them must have had to wait. Unless maybe you eat really late? We didn’t used to have trouble, but we often cruised with groups larger than 4, and when it was just us 4, I did tend to request a 4 top by emailing dining. However, no matter what we did for that one cruise, they would not switch us. Come to think of it, that was Navigator. When we sailed on Navigator again we had a larger group
  12. Something will likely open up, and there are plenty of people that want to switch the first day, so hopefully they can accommodate you. However, as Ourusualbeach noted, if you have early or late dining, you have to go at that time and they won’t seat you for MTD.
  13. Yup. Oh, we complained. Perhaps not enough, but I wasn’t planning on spending my cruise angry and constantly complaining. We simply skipped MTD several nights in favor of other options. And yes, my experience has always been that MTD had their own floor.
  14. Actually, we do prefer early dining 😊 We switched to MTD after it became increasingly difficult to get a table for 4. My husband and son prefer to dine with just our family. After one disastrous 10-nighter when we were seated with a large group, they prefer the guarantee of a 4 top with MTD.
  15. We just got off Oasis and were surprised By the changes to MTD. I don’t recall seeing anything here, so thought I would share. We’ve been on Oasis before, as well as Harmony and did not have this experience. We have been doing MTD the last several years with consistent results. We book the earliest time we can in the planner (usually 6/6:30), and show up on time or a little early for our reservations. We have always been seated with minimal wait times and have the same table and wait staff every night. We did the same for this cruise and booked 6:30 reservations for the entire week. Imagine ou
  16. Everyone’s different, but if you’re just looking for opinions...we cruise often. We just did Empress with our 8 year old for 6 days. We wouldn’t do it again. There was very little for her to do. However, she also does not do the kids club. My husband and I may consider the ship again, but not with kids. It was much smaller than I anticipated. And we’ve been on Grandeur several times.
  17. Can anyone confirm that children are still permitted for dinner in the Solarium Bistro on Oasis?
  18. We were told by our cabin steward (last month) that the beds could not be pushed together if you were using the Pullman beds. I'm not sure how accurate that is, but it is what we were told. There was a safe. However, we found there to be very little storage space. We fit our suitcases under the beds, but there were very few drawers, and the closets were set up so that it was difficult to hang anything long. There were only three of us (one of them my 8yo daughter) and I thought it was cramped.
  19. It was just a small Oceanside area on the opposite side of the island (of the port). No other stops. Just those 3.
  20. Just wanted to add that we just did this through Royal last week. My 8-year-old LOVED it! We happened to find a lot of turtles, and were with only one other family, so she got to save a lot:) I would definitely do this again. The only downside is I would have liked to know about the other stops they make on the excursion. Afterwards we went to a replica of a Mayan village, which was not bad. We got to taste corn tortillas and salsa, supposedly how they used to be made, as well as chocolate straight from the cocoa bean. We were just not prepared for it as it was not advertised as being part of
  21. I'm looking into doing this in February through Royal Caribbean. Would you say it was kid-friendly? I have an 8- and 12-year-old who really enjoy cooking and love Mexican food.
  22. We just got off Empress Saturday, so I can share my thoughts. We went with my 8-year-old daughter, and decided we would not likely sail a ship that small with children again. Honestly, I don't think I would sail Empress again at all. It was not awful (I mean it was still a cruise:)), it was just too small for us, which also leads to less activities. I will say that we loved Bolero's and Schooner's, as they were huge! I think we have just been spoiled with the bigger ships and the numerous amenities they offer. However, I think Empress is probably good for a simple, relaxing week:)
  23. How far is this from the port?
  24. We enjoy deck 7 on Navigator. It's quiet, but feels convenient to most areas.
