  1. I did enjoy seeing the two videos as well. My that water slide looks like a high/long one to me, but I know a person gets to the bottom fast. :)

Thanks :) I also shot this video explaining hidden decks on the Glory...

  2. I don't read articles that you have to click and click through. It is a cheesy way to present information and I avoid websites that send me to such articles. If I land on page one, shame on you. If I click to page 2, shame on me.

I agree. Slideshows-as-articles have driven me mad for years. Anything to get the clicks even if it's a scorched earth approach.

  3. In Canada the turnaround time has been 2 to 4 weeks for awhile now when you drop it off in person at a passport office. If you do it by mail or drop it off at another kind of office they don't check your documents right away and so you run the risk of delays.

  4. I've heard differing opinions on the dress code. We are doing the Cozumel/Progreso cruise, so I know it'll be summer casual dress 99% of the time. But what about the one nice-dinner dress night? Suit for him/dress for me, or is it even more casual than that?

Here's the Carnival Dress Code...and maybe one more opinion...

  5. You don't have to be rude! A polite no thank you has always worked for me. The folks are just trying to make a living an the Bahamians are very nice people..

I'm not advocating being rude but sometimes you have no choice. A woman tried to sell me something, I gave a polite no thank you and as I started to walk away she put something around my neck without my permission and demanded money. I wasn't going to let manners allow this woman to extort money from me.

I said "Don't feel bad if you have to be rude to get past them". I had to be rude to get past her, I had little choice, and I'm not going to feel bad about that.

As you say she was just trying to make a living and might be a nice person but what she did also met the technical definition of assault.

  6. That's a lot of questions and many are hard to answer without knowing which line you're sailing on. I think a useful place to start is what's included on a Carnival cruise...

Carnival is generally the cheapest and has the largest fleet so I'd recommend starting by looking at them and then either ruling them out or not.

  7. I don't think this is Carnival Glory specific but just fleet wide, heck cruise ship wide..... You can get exceptional spa services on the beach for stupidly ridiculous prices, including a generous tip! The spa on the ships are highly over priced, even on port days. Then they give you a 50 minute hour and spend the remaining 10 minutes on selling you a highly over rated and overpriced product. Be advised, these employees are NOT Carnival employees but of the spa.... can't recall their name.

Most ports, especially in the western Caribbean, you can get awesome massages on the beach or at the private resort and even with tip you will pay far less than you do in US. Their technique is a bit different, but it is still a good massage.

If you go to Cozumel and book with Nachi Cocum for the day, Ingrid or Dorita are awesome and it is $75 for a very generous hour. Costa Maya is even far cheaper.

    Seconded.

  8. You don't really need water shoes unless you are going to be going to a very rocky beach. Unless you know that is the case, the lightest travel choice would be to not bring any.

I would imagine that you can find them at most any Walmart if you chose to get them.

Unless you plan on doing an excursion like Dunns River Falls in Jamaica that absolutely mandates them - in that case, yea, hit Walmart.

  9. I think that if I had been the wife I would have boarded and told him to pick me up in a week! :D

That is exactly what I would have done. I would have been like "Enjoy Tampa! Hope you find a good hotel! Good luck! See you in a week!"

But I am also the keeper of the passports and would not have allowed it to happen in the first place.

  10. If you're fine shelling out for excursions in Freeport and Nassau you should be fine. There's nothing to do at the port in Freeport and I wouldn't feel safe walking around outside the port area of Nassau so I'd do an excursion at each. If you don't mind paying $200 for Atlantis the waterpark is one of the few things in life that truly live up to the hype.

  11. If you're talking about the Member e-newsletter listed in the VIFP perks it's available at all levels, even blue, and isn't easy to tell the difference between it and advertising/marketing/pretrip e-mails.
