  1. it's so funny that this topic surfaces so often. I remember when they announced they were removing them and the "horror" it caused... I wasn't bothered either way then. Now, looking at the posted picture it looks so dated... Like, 1980 called and they want their tablecloths back... 🤣
  2. A day pass was how I got hooked on the Dream years ago. We have booked a spa cabin every cruise with Cloud 9 amenities ever since! I will say that I prefer the Cloud 9 experience on the Dream class ships over the Vista class. (but we are sailing on the Panorama next week and are super excited for the experience.) We enjoy the spa best on trips with more sea days, our Horizon sailing in the Mediterranean had only 1 sea day and long port days. We really did not feel like we were even on the ship that much, let alone in the spa. I also think it made the spa more crowded all the time because people were not able to spread out their time there due to limited time on the ship.
  3. Is the wine pairing included with CHEERS or is it a discounted package?
  4. If she is in a cabin with someone who is platinum she would receive the benefit. FTTF is for the whole cabin, so I am guessing that she is not in that cabin. On all of our experiences, (multiple ports, none Long Beach) being platinum and traveling with friends, they were not permitted to board with us. When we travel with our kids, we split our booking and put my husband and one kid in one cabin and me and the other in the second cabin- they then get the benefits.
  5. We have been cruising with Carnival since 2003 and never booked the steakhouse. We have been tempted often, but not enough to bite the bullet. We have it booked for our sailing on the Panorama next month. I have read tons of reviews and the good far outweigh the bad. I fully expect the experience to be worth it.
  6. Yes, it is only open on sea days. We were on the 2nd sailing of the Horizon in the Mediterranean and only had one sea day on our trip. Needless to say- it was very busy. I am looking forward to it next month on the Panorama as we have three sea days so I think we will be able to have less crowds (I hope) It was a pretty good selection of toppings in a pretty small space. Of course you can make as many as you'd like during operating hours.
  7. When you consider you paid $2100 for a 7 day cruise with no balcony and we have a 7 day spa balcony booked on the Panorama that leaves next month with two free Cheers packages for $2400...I think I will take today's cruise over 1987....
  8. ok so maybe they look at the stuff we have already booked and try to work around it... We have booked the steakhouse sunday and bonzai on friday. Since Monday is also a seaday, that would be great too...
  9. We used the wifi when we did the Mediterranean in '18 and it was fine for social media. I don't think anyone should expect streaming... As far as the roaming she needs to have her phone in airplane mode- I would recommend all of the time. You can contact your carrier about options in various countries abroad. My husband had his on when we were in port, but it was a business line. We have Tmobile and have coverage in Mexico and some other countries, but not Europe. In the past we have called and added various locations for set days to avoid roaming.
  10. Oh we LOVE cloud 9 spa cabins so I would've jumped all over that!! For perspective, the pass for the week would cost around $150 for each...
  11. The "free" sushi that people are talking about was served on promenade mid afternoon on most of the ships we sailed on and it was available for a short period of time each day... The sushi restaurant on some ships now are totally different. The do offer several rolls and other small plate options and are pretty inexpensive compared to sushi prices at home. Most ships have had at least a steakhouse for years available for an extra fee. There are now Asian, BBQ, Italian, seafood and more available on some ships available for an upcharge. Pig and anchor is included at lunch on sea days, the pasta bar (in the Italian restaurant) is included on sea days. Some ships have a small salad bar in the serenity area that is also included on sea days. Of course the MDR is included (unless you order 3 meals or an option with an upcharge) Lido buffet is included as well as the deli and pizza, Guy's burgers, the blue iguana taco/burrito place also included with fare. Seaday brunch is included in the MDR as long as you don't go the the Dr. Seusse themed one. You won't go hungry... even with just included options.
  12. it does not show up. it shows up in the purchases, but when you pull it up it says it will be assigned upon boarding. Someone else here suggests that there are more than one, that was never mentioned when I asked about this before. The best information I have gotten is from a previous attender who said it happened on Wednesday of their sailing.
  13. Totally agree- what about people who do not have a phone? (or those who choose to lock it in the safe because they are on vacation.) I don't want to carry my phone with me everywhere onboard... I want to unplug...
  14. I don't understand why they don't just place the fun times at various "pick up" spots after 8 the night before. That way they print less, those who want one will pick up one and those wishing to use the app could do that. Sometimes things just don't need to be complicated...
  15. I find it odd that is their "official" rule when the carnival terminal at Barcelona had a full on liquor store right before you board. I guess it is there for the crew?... 😆
  16. We have booked a Hilton curio in Redondo Beach. We looked at the hilton options listed above and decided on the curio. The closest hilton brand closest to the port was over $900 with no option to book with points. I've been researching things to do/see near there and it seems the pier is only .5 mile walk.
  17. Sure. I will tell you that we had a spa cabin on the Horizon and were on her 2nd sailing in the Mediterranean and it was wonderful- however that itinerary was port intensive with long days off the ship so we did not get to enjoy the ship as much as we had wished but when the ports are Europe you do what you gotta do...🤣
  18. Thanks all for the responses. That makes more sense. We used to live about 20 miles from the port of Jacksonville where tides could affect whether or not the ship could clear the bridge to get to port. Delays happened sort of frequently. Our flight out of LAX is at 1:55 so I think that should be fine even if we did not disembark until 10.
  19. We are sailing out of Long Beach next month on the Panorama. I see that the ship arrival time says 9 a.m. I also see with many posts on the topic that the arrival window times begin at 10 and people often state they boarded by 10:45... How is that possible? It's a huge ship- I would not expect all passengers to be off board in less than 2 hours let alone they have cleaned and ready to open the doors for the next 4000+ people... Am I missing something here? We are flying in the night before from the east coast, it is our first time sailing out of Long Beach so we are newbies in that regard. We are platinum, so I think I have done the proper research to understand that part, I just question if arriving at 10... I am sure we will be so excited to board, it won't matter when we actually get there... 🤪
  20. That was how I got introduced to the spa amenities. We have since booked a spa stateroom. Others have mentioned that they have felt it was too busy with too many day passes sold, that has not been our experience. We do tend to cruise off season. We board the Panorama next month in a spa balcony and hope we are not disappointed.
  21. we are on the same itinerary leaving on 4/15 and also booked chef's table. on another site I asked this same question and was also told it would most likely be on Wednesday. I hope so- we have steakhouse booked for sunday and bonsai for friday- so I don't want it to be either of those...
  22. yes, a few weeks back I was given a rate that was basically taxes and port fees. It was a 7 day trip. We couldn't go at the time...
  23. I get that. We haven't sailed since '18 on the Horizon in the Mediterranean, having to cancel our '20 trip because of the shutdown. We are now newly booked on the Panorama but I just realized that I have reserved the steakhouse on elegant night- (it's our anniversary) so I guess I will be able to get the big lobster this time. 🙂
  24. If you are always unimpressed with it, why do you continue to order it? Just curious, seems odd to do the same thing and expect a different result.
