We called it worse than "shenanigans" and decided to cancel......

Oh, my goodness....well, I knew I was in trouble when I had to talk to "Certified Vacation Planner" through the website so he could see the great deal......LOL

Why does RC make it so difficult for its loyal cruisers to get the discounts they have earned?????
Barb

I was told last night that since the price of this particular balcony was so low, RC was not allowing the use of the diamond plus discount.
-
This question may have been asked before, and if so I apologize in advance...
Can the Diamond Plus discount be combined with the going, going, gone sale?
Thanks,
Barb

I'm sorry to be late to the party, but could you add me to the list of those who want the name of the discounter?? I'm flogalerntx52 at yahoo dot com

My sister and I must have a balcony for sure. We spend lots of time out there....we are more about relaxation than running all over the ship and doing all the "activities". So we must have at least a balcony. Having said that, our next 2 cruises are in Grand Suites.......we have become spoiled. We try to sail 2 times a year.

Not sure, but are you speaking of the bar area between the mirrored wall and the living area? I can't remember if there are bar stools there. If there aren't, that would be a great idea!!

It's really not hard to get your money's worth with the ultimate package. Think of it this way.....fresh squeezed OJ at breakfast, a bloody mary in the AM, a lava flow while by the pool, a bottle of water and diet coke in the afternoon, a glass of wine with dinner, and then a martini (or 2) in the casino. I bought this package on my May 25th Navigator cruise, and feel it was absolutely worth the cost.

Flame Away!! The Tutti salad is good, I agree, and has more selections, but the salad in the Winjammer is good too. I don't mind chopping (or cutting) my salad.

To the OP, this was previously allowed, but not in many years. I agree, it was a great thing.

My sister and I both sailed on 5/25 as well (can't believe that cruise is almost a month ago!!). I flew down from DFW are, sister picked me up at Hobby when I landed a bit after 11. The traffic on 45 as absolutely horrible!!! It was bumper to bumper, with cars going 10 miles per hour at times. The drive just about drove us crazy. However, when we finally arrived at the parking lot (at 1:15!!!) we were shuttled to the port, through the line, and onboard by 1:45. We could, of course, go to our cabin by then to drop things off. We've decided to get to the port a bit later from now on!!!

And they call and call and call.....I think it is quite a nuisance. I always book directly on the phone, and check prices myself.

And you are so proud because he talked about farting everywhere??? Really??? What kind of redneck are you anyway?
I mean, one thread to say how proud you are of your kids to win a contest, but multiple ones????

Isn't this the second thread on this topic????

T-Shirts for the 2 grandsons and a special cross for my daughter. She has a wall in her living room with all crosses.

Let me refine my earlier statement and put it this way. While the upcharge specialty places were good, I also thought the MDR was very good. I did not feel I was missing out by eating at MDR instead of going to a specialty place. The MDR offers a lot of variety and chances are you will have more hits than misses. You don't need to pre-book specialty, and sometimes onboard if it isn't selling well they will offer discounts or deals on specialty dining.
Now, if I found the upcharge food to be phenomenal and the service an absolute spectacle to enjoy, that's a different story. But I don't. It's like others have said, a notch or two better all around, and a much quieter atmosphere. When we don't go we don't cry over it.
The windjammer was mentioned above; you could always pocket that $150+ and kick back in a t-shirt and some shorts in the Jammer with a window view and a variety of good food. You'd be surprised how nice it can be to have dinner up there. I am not joking or saying that tongue in cheek.
All of that is to say, if you're just looking to have a good time with your family you can do it at any of the dining venues with a variety of good food and you're not going to feel like you missed out on something.
So true!!! It is very different at night.....not crazy like during the day.

Here's another point of view. On our recent cruise (May 25) we had my time dinner and only went once - on Lobster night!! We ate in the windjammer most meals and had fabulous salads every day!! Now, I understand this is not everyone's cup of tea (or plate of food), but we simply wanted to relax and not worry about "offending" anyone with our choice of clothing!!

Why not log into Cruise Critic at work too?
I do that every day at work!!!! Especially when I am only 13 days away from a cruise!!!!!

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I see, this special is for 2015 & 2016 sailings. These same sailings had a huge increase in pricing last month (April) and the special is now adjusting these back down to the real world. So while the 1/2 price for the 2nd person is nice and saves some monies, it also appears to be a trumped up price.
Am I wrong?
No, you are not wrong. I feel it was a bait and switch......

Just wanted to let you all know......My sister and I were going to book the Liberty repositioning cruise from Bayonne to Galveston. When we looked at the prices on line, they were great! We thought we would be able to look at the online prices, then deduct 1/2 for the second person, and have our final price (without taxes, port fees, etc). Well, come to find out, the prices listed have already been adjusted!!
This might already have been posted on here. To me it seems like a bait and switch.

PS. And yes, I am loyal to Royal, just a bit disappointed.......

Diamond Plus Discount Question

I had the last cabin in that category on hold, so rebooking would have been tricky.
It came down to a matter of principle. RC should follow their own policies without the customer having to explain the policies. When I was originally trying to book this cruise, I asked to speak to a supervisor. She was probably one of the rudest people I have ever spoken to. She spent several minutes explaining the world-wide reservation system, etc.
I just want RC planners to know how to properly reserve and cost cruises. I'm sure that is a wish far beyond RCs control.
