  1. LOVED your review!! Sometimes it seems like you can't get away from the negativity on the ship AND on here (Cruise Critic)! Was a breath of fresh air to hear how much you loved it! I cruised for my first time in 2009 and haven't stopped! Hubby and I are going on our first back to back cruise this coming January! I have been planning since we booked it on a cruise last January! Looking forward to it is one of the best parts about the cruise! :o:D

  2. That pic wasnt even the Enchantment of the Seas. It was a Carnival ship taken who knows when. Don't be nervous! You will have a wonderful time and the seas will be fine! We ALWAYS cruise the Caribbean in January and have never had issues. The further you get from hurricane season, the better!! Have a great time!

My preggo wife and I are taking our two kids on a 4 day enchantment cruise on January 11th. This will be our first cruise and reading this thread and seeing that pic of the boat in high winds is freaking me out a little!

Is January typically a windy time to cruise?

  3. We are headed on our 3rd cruise on the Adventure of the Seas in January and have gone to all of the islands on the non-ABC cruise you listed. We would love to do the ABCs though soon because we've heard great things about them. I have never been on the Jewel but have been on her sister ship, Serenade and they are wonderful ships. But we prefer the Adventure class ships because of the Royal Promenade. The entertainment, shopping and bars are really fun to experience. Can't go wrong with either but I'd recommend the ABCs on the Adventure! You are going to love Royal!! :D;)

  4. We went to Valley Church last year and it was stunning! We are planning to go back there in January on our cruise. I would be interested in hearing more about the Sheer Rocks lunch/sun lounger as well! Thanks! :D

I just made a lunch/sun lounger reservation at Sheer Rocks for 1pm on the day we will be in Antigua. We are thinking of a beach stop prior to this- which beach would be best for this, Valley Church or Ffryes Beach?

    Thank you!

  5. My husband and I (no kids) are thinking about planning a cruise to Croatia, Greece and surrounding areas for fall of 2017. We have been on 5 Caribbean cruises so we aren't new to cruising and we've been to England and Ireland so not really new to international traveling either. But I have no idea where to start with a Mediterranean cruise. We prefer Royal Caribbean and Celebrity but are really open to any line. We also have friends in England that we might visit before/after the cruise.

What is the best time to go?

What is the best departure port?

    Any must see ports?

Thanks for any and all advice you may be able to offer!

  6. We are sailing on the Adventure of the Seas for the third time in January. We love the Adventure of the Seas but mainly go on the ship because we love the Southern itinerary out of San Juan. The Jewel also goes out of San Juan but we love the Royal Promenade on the Adventure. But we have done the Serenade (sister to Jewel) and absolutely loved it as well! Aren't they all amazing?!?!:D

  7. This past January, we took a taxi with about 6 other people to Valley Church Beach and it was stunning!! I think we are going back in January when we cruise again. Taxi was only about $6 round trip and we told the driver when we wanted him to pick us back up. Cool little restaurant on the beach. It's a long beach and really fun to walk up and down. Water is gorgeous! Enjoy!

    Hello!

Antigua is our 6th port on our first ever cruise in March!

We have decided to DIY as we keep changing our minds, so we will play it by ear as to what we fancy doing and may book excursions on the ship!

    Any recommendations or No go's?

We are 24, newly married, and this is our Honeymoon. Our main aim of the holiday is to relax and enjoy some beautiful sites.

Our main interests would probably be beach resorts with restaurants, shops, maybe water activities or any other recommendations to make the most of the island!

    We are also visiting;

    Aruba

    Grenada

    Barbados

    St Lucia

    Bonaire

  8. You guys will LOVE Serenade! My husband and I got married on a Southern Caribbean cruise in 09 and it was amazing! We ALWAYS sail Southern Caribbean because we love hitting a new island every day! We are going on our first back to back cruise in January on the Adventure of the Seas. Serenade will always hold a special place in my heart since it was my first cruise! Enjoy your time!!

Our family is doing the exact opposite of the OP. We are long time Princess cruisers, and in a couple weeks are going on our first RCCL cruise (9 day Southern Caribbean on Serenade of the Seas). We thoroughly enjoy Princess, but wanted to try something different. A few years ago we tried a Costa cruise and had a great time. A little variety keeps things fresh.

  9. My husband and I were on a cruise with her last January and we really didn't care for her. She wasn't really funny and her voice was quite annoying. This was our 5th cruise and we have always liked our CD before so it was a little disappointing. We are going back on AOS in January on a B2B and I was hoping for someone different especially since we are going to 2 weeks!

Can anyone tell me anything about the new AOS CD? Mercedes Lafuente? It appears she/he will only be onboard a short time and they are new to the ship. We board in two weeks so looking for some feedback. TIA!
  10. We absolutely love Adventure of the Seas! We sailed on Jan 23, 2014 and were very please with how the ship has aged! You can find a ton of info if you look at the reviews of AOS. They have added some touch screen electronic maps that are quite helpful for finding places/events because even though I've been on the ship twice already, I still somehow get lost! We didnt do any of the specialty restaurants because we enjoy the food in the MDR so we stick to that. We always do a balcony and our room was amazing of course! Hope you enjoy your cruise! I'm on the countdown...53 days! :D

    Awesome..

I have my 3rd cruise on Adventure booked for 9/03. Back to Aruba for me and hubby (his first time there).

My first cruise on her was in january 2002 (booked a couple weeks after 9/11 out of spite) so I missed the maiden voyage by two months.

Sailed her again in 2005 and did the opposite itenerary.

How is the ship overall? And new additions? Restaurants etc..?

  11. I too was on this cruise and wondered myself. I don't think that makes me a bad guy for wondering.

I suppose those that have commented on this being none of our business are the same ones that only look straight ahead when passing an accident on the highway. You know it's an wreck. What more do you need to know?

Hope that the person who fell ill is feeling better. And yes to the one that asked, the casino did close early.

Yeah I know, everyone I talked to was curious too. I cruise quite a bit and this has never happened so just got me thinking. Hope you had a good cruise! We really enjoyed it as we had never been to the Bahamas! We always cruise Southern Caribbean in January!

  12. We just returned today from a 4 night Bahamas cruise (5-29-15) and yesterday they announced we were going to pick up the speed because there was a medical emergency and we needed to get the person back ASAP. So we went from 8 knots to 19.5 very quickly and were back to Florida by 11 pm the night before we were to arrive. I was just curious about what the emergency was!? If anyone knows, that'd be great!
