  1. Giovanni's Table was very good. Since this is the only specialty restaurant on board it was quite busy.

We each had the filet mignon. It was equal to Chops on other ships. We also shared a pasta dish and a caprese salad. While service and quality was great, they just serve way too much food. Looking at our table and neighbor's tables, there was so much uneaten food at the end of each meal.

In our stateroom tonight were our departure luggage tags, already. Also instructions for disembarkation in San Juan on Saturday morning. Seemed to go by so quickly...

Sad for you that your cruise is almost over :(:( hate seeing the work "disembarkation" starting showing up.

  2. We did this tour last spring - Amigo Tours was the operator and we booked through Viator. GREAT tour! Our driver was very funny and informative, Orient beach was beautiful, and watching the planes land at Maho beach was an experience we'll never forget. The videos don't do it justice - you have to experience it for yourself!

I think it is the same tour but you can just book through Viator or Shore Excursioneer. I see it's a couple bucks cheaper on Shore Excursioneer. Have fun!!!

  3. We have done the following excursion 2 years in a row and it's absolutely amazing!! You CAN'T beat the price and it's always a wonderful time! It is run by Amigo Tours.

All of the drinks (water, pop, beer, rum punch) are included for the whole day while you are on the bus driving from one stop to another and they also let you take drinks off the bus when they drop you off at the beach. It is a really nice air-conditioned bus with GREAT tour guides that give wonderful info!

    Highly recommended!! :D:D

  4. Hi, does anyone know if there are any mirrors in the main part of the cabins or just in the washrooms? I'm traveling with two teen girls and I understand there aren't any electrical outlets in the washroom so they will have to straighten and curl their hair in the cabin. Just wondering if there are mirrors or should we bring some?

There will be plenty of mirrors for them I would think. There are several large mirrors above the desk, where I kept my straightener and then there is a full length mirror behind that. I should point out that we were in a balcony so that is how it was in there. Have a great time!

  5. Thanks you too! :D

So after responding to this thread today, and finally posting our cruise pics to facebook, I'm getting a second wave of post-cruise blues. I put together an excel spreadsheet of all the Adventure cruises from Jan-March 2017 and now I'm trying to figure out which week(s) to do.

I suppose we can always book and if the finances don't look right in the fall we could cancel, right? Sure, I'm going to go with that logic. What week did you guys pick?

Haha, the post-cruise blues are REAL! That cracked me up about your spread sheet! Lol, that is a good thing to do though! We booked Jan 21st and are thinking about adding Jan 28th but are holding off to see what this year brings. And yes you can always cancel before the final payment! A couple weeks ago, the price was lower than what we got on the ship so we called and got about $100 back! Woohoooooo! Good luck picking the perfect cruise to book! It's difficult as there are so many great options! Tell wifey I said hi! :)

  6. Hi Cindy, we were on the same B2B as Laura. Agreed it was a really easy process! Much faster than our Allure B2B (where we had to disembark, sit in a waiting area, then get back on)...

They had a small but tasteful lunch for us in the MDR.

To tell you how fast the process went, we all met at 11:00 to be processed by a customs agent, and by 11:30 or so a bunch of us were at the MDR waiting for our lunch. :D

I really hope my wife's business does well this year because we'd both love to do a Jan 2017 Adventure B2B, the itineraries look amazing!

You haven't booked yet?? Come on! :) Hope you guys are doing well!!

  7. Can anyone tell me how a B2B on Adventure works? Have done a couple, but they are all handled differently. Would love like turnaround in Copenhagen. Off the ship and back on the ship a minute later.

    Cindy

We just did a back to back in January and it was SO easy. We got our new SeaPass cards on Day 6 and then on Day 7 (turnaround day), we were all advised to meet in the Imperial Lounge around 11am. It only took about 30 mins for the customs agent to look at our passports and for us to all scan our new SeaPass cards and we were free to go! Didn't have to get off the ship! It was so awesome and I think Royal and the Adventure staff did an amazing job accommodating the consecutive cruisers!

  8. OP thanks for the review.

    A couple questions:

How did the beach near the pier "look"? Trying to decide whether to go back to Sandcastle or not.

Any idea if you can disembark the ship to poke around San Juan pre sailing? Had resigned ourselves to dropping luggage with porters and immediately grabbing another cab to tour OSJ

Re the ice show, is there a ticket system in place or just first-come, first-seated?

We just got off of a back to back cruise on AOS in January. The beach off the ship in St. Croix is just ok. We love going to Rainbow Beach and they have a great restaurant/bar there!

Not sure about dropping off luggage before cruise but I do know that taxis are insanely priced in San Juan. Our flight home was super late so we thought about just going to a beach that day but we had already spent so much on taxis before the cruise so decided against it.

The ice show is first come, first served. No tickets. They open the doors 30 mins early and I suggest getting there as early as possible! We went to the show both weeks because it's so awesome! Highly recommend it!

    Have a GREAT cruise!! I'm jealous!! :D

  9. Look at all of the KC folks cruising! I as well am from KC, NKC to be exact. We are cruising the AOS in March, our 1st time to PR, 1st S Caribbean and out 1st AFT CABIN! Yeah! It is during spring break, the only downfall. We booked about 10 mos out, got a great deal $1k pp with prepaid gratuities.

You will LOVE leaving from PR! S. Caribbean is the best because you wake up in a different place everyday! Can't get any better!

Just wish we had a better airport to fly out of!

  10. AKCRUZ, thanks for clearning that up about the inside/outside solarium on the two ships. Actually it is a no brainer in regard to that area.

You are right, in regard to "checking out" the cost and itinerary. We definitely want to stop in St. Lucia, so my TA is working on this now.

I hope to be seeing (I'm in Missouri now) warmer/hot weather in a few more months with my cruising. :) We have "tried" to start our cruises in January/Feburary/March, and have found many delays in "weather" here in KC, so that is why I try the end of March or the first part of April anymore. (If I wasn't working, I could plan it anytime. :))

Once again, thank you all for your responses.

Didn't realize you were from good ole KC when I responded to your post originally! We are also from KC (LS actually) and have run in to trouble as well with the weather here and getting out of town. We got married in Jan 2009 so we like to cruise for our anniversary and my hubby needs to escape from the Missouri weather so we stick with January cruising. We usually just leave a day before to make SURE that we are there on time! We leave on Friday and I'm SO glad because I see on Saturday there is a chance for snow! EEK! Get me outta here!! Glad you were able to make a decision and feel good about it! Have a great time!! :D

  11. Forgot to address this in your other post....we have been to St. Lucia twice. The first time we did a bus tour of the island that was a little too long. It was 5 hours but we saw some amazing things and LOVED the waterfall that we went to. The 2nd time we visited, we did a catamaran sail to snorkel under the pitons! IT was so gorgeous! I've heard people say some bad things about St. Lucia and the people there but we've never experienced anything bad! This trip, we are going to kayak in the ocean and a river!

  12. Both Jewel and Adventure are excellent ships, either way you cannot go wrong. It comes down to if you want a ship with a Royal Promenade (Adventure) or magnificent views outside and an indoor Solarium (Jewel).

I forgot to say that we prefer an outdoor Solarium because I find that the indoor gets a little too chilly! But if you are someone who is apt to burn, it's nice to have the shade on the Jewel in the Solarium.

  13. We were on Adventure last January and are getting ready to leave again in 3 days on the Adventure on our first back to back ever! We love the Adventure of the Seas! We've never had any complaints! Obviously people are going to FIND things to complain about but then again, those people complain about everything. We love the Royal Promenade on the AOS. The Jewel wont have that. But yet, I've heard a lot of people talk about how much they love the outdoor seating in the Windjammer on the Jewel (which we did love on the Serenade 7 years ago). But for us, we like the Promenade a little more than we like sitting outside.

Both ships are great and I really don't think you can go wrong but for us, we prefer the Voyager Class over the Radiance class. Some people complain about the lack of specialty dining on the Adventure but for us, we prefer to eat in the MDR since it's *free* and we love getting to know our table mates as well. We always go with a balcony and love the space in the closet and all of the drawers! We never lack space but I'm not so sure I'll be saying that in a couple of days when I unpack for 2 weeks!!

I hope this helps a little and you are able to make a decision and feel good about it! Have a great time!!!!

  14. I too enjoyed reading other reviews. I wanted to make sure I didn't offend anyone or start any arguments. That seems to happen on here sometimes if someone takes something the wrong way. I tried to carefully plan my words.

We didn't buy the Internet package so I forgot to carry my phone most of the time. So we don't have tons of pictures. I think I need to get an actual camera before the next one. Oh wait. I will post one picture. This was us in Labadee. I had a huge smile despite injured back. Haha. [ATTACH]371154[/ATTACH

Such a cute pic of you guys! I have a soft spot in my heart for Haiti because I sponsor a little boy there and have gone on 2 missions trips there. I wish we could visit Labadee although I'm sure it's much different than what I've seen of Haiti! We are in the teens of our countdown today - 19! Woo-hoo!

  15. Hello,

I did do a search for this topic and didn't find anything.

We cruise in 8 days. This is our 6th cruise but it is our first cruise to the Caribbean. Our previous cruises have been in Europe.

I do love to dress up for dinner.

I am wondering how many of you do the same? Just curious :)

    Thanks in advance :)

We love to dress up still!! It's part of the fun of cruising in our opinion! My hubby wears a tux for formal night and I usually wear a long gown. It's fun! Have a great cruise! We cruise in 19 days!

  16. Oh my goodness. My husband started talking about doing a back to back cruise probably on day 4. I hope you write a review so I can see how it is. He spent a lot of time in the hot tub talking to people about cruising. I too love knowing that we have a cruise already planned for next December. Usually we come back from a vacation without anything else planned and it's sad. But knowing that I'm about 360 days I will be back on a boat is exciting. Lol.

Okay. We might be sneaking in a shorter cruise in a few months. Not sure either of us can wait 12 months.

I've never done a review before but I've LOVED reading other's reviews recently so I think I will have to! Maybe I can even figure out how to put up all the fancy pics :) We did a 4 night cruise this last May with family to the Bahamas and it was a great "in between" cruise to hold us over until January! We love hanging out in the hot tub and meeting new people!
