  1. Ugh I would hate to see a huge ship down there too. I don't see that happening though, since those take a lot more people to fill, and San Juan is off the beaten path and too expensive for most mainstream travelers (especially those with lots of kids) to get to.

It also wouldn't make sense to have a huge ship down there, since the ship is the destination, and people who like to sail those are very different from the people who like to sail the southern Caribbean (because they go there for the islands and not to sit on the ship all day).

I don't think they'd make money on a big ship down there at all. I'm more worried that they'll throw a small old ship like majesty down there. If so I'll be happy to sail the Jewel instead, but I'd rather keep Adventure, or have the Navigator or a Freedom class or something.

Preach it girl!! I agree 100% with you! Let's email Royal Caribbean and tell them our thoughts. I'm sure they will listen and make things how we want them [emoji1] [emoji28] [emoji24]

  2. Oh no! I got excited this morning when I saw the calendar online opened up through April of 2019 (meaning you can select dates that far out as your search parameters whereas you couldn't yesterday), but when they give you the search results, they really only have itinerary dates through next April.

I called this morning to see if they were able to see more on their end and of course customer service knew less than we do, and told me they don't put out itineraries for the following summer until this coming summer or fall and to check back then [emoji849] I'll just keep looking every day.

BUT, now that adventure might not even be down there, I am worried about what ship will replace her. I'll be bummed if it's just the smaller ships. It would be cool if they moved a Freedom class out there though.

Yeah I agree! I'd love to see a Freedom class down there. But what I don't want is one of the "big big" ones cuz then it'll raise the $$$ quite a bit. I also don't think the larger ones can fit into all of the smaller ports we love so much and that's the best part about leaving from San Juan! I guess we will find out next week! That is *supposed* to be when it will all be released for Caribbean. Fingers crossed!! ;p

  3. Hello Adventure lovers!! I just read that Allure of the Seas is moving from Fort Lauderdale to Miami. I also read that Adventure of the Seas is going to move to Fort Lauderdale as one of the ships to replace Allure. Has anyone heard what ship is going to replace Adventure in San Juan? I know they will release it all next week but I thought someone on here may have heard (Bob..........) LOL I never thought they'd pull Adventure from San Juan! We always wanted to try another ship down there but yet we LOVE San Juan so now I'm kind of sad!

  4. We normally book ocean view but are considering promenade view for our B2B Feb 2018. Would you book it again, over ocean view? It will save us about 800 total, not sure if it's worth it to miss the natural light.

    Any feedback is appreciated! ☺

Oh yes for sure!!!! We have stayed in 1 ocean view before and the size and space wasn't much different at all. It's nice to have natural light but not worth $800! Definitely go with the promenade. Our room was 7611 (I think). Farthest aft on port side. Right off the elevator. Had no noise at all from elevator because it was around the corner. No noise from the promenade either because it was far enough down. We will be on another B2B in January 2018 before you guys. Enjoy your cruise!!

  5. Thank you so much for posting. We're really enjoying your posts. We've done the Aruba route on Jewel and have the St Lucia route planned for a few months away on Adventure. Our last five cruises have been on Oasis class ships, so we always book smaller ships with a little anxiousness. We have yet to be disappointed. (I can't say I've ever had a bad cruise);). We've read several threads about the need for repair on this ship. Thanks again for posting and your beautiful pictures . I'm getting excited!

I'm excited for your upcoming cruise! Adventure is the biggest ship we've been on so to us, it's the best :D We have been on Adventure several years in a row and haven't really noticed the need for repair as much as others. I think it is what you are used to. Yes there are areas where the carpet could use replacing and the rust could be fixed but it's nothing that stops us from having an amazing time! Have a wonderful cruise and I hope you will report back! ;)

  6. Hello!!!! I found your review and loved it. Felt like we were there with you, oh wait we were! We had so much fun getting to know you both. I wish we were going again in January next year but we booked our back to back for April. We are counting down the days to our next cruise in July. Tim is trying to talk me into going to Bermuda on the Anthem in May. We can drive there. I keep saying "No" but he might wear me out. We must cruise together again and we want to go to that restaurant with you guys on Curacao.

Hi there!!!! It's so good to hear from you! We had a great time with you guys and are hoping to cruise with you again in 2019!! We are hoping to book on Monday when the 2018-2019 itineraries are released!! :D You need to go to Bermuda with hubs! I've never been there but would love to! I think we might book a cruise with our son next summer so that we can be Diamond by the time our Jan 2019 cruise rolls around :p Only will need 1 point! Miss you guys!!

  7. Such wonderful suggestions!!! I wish we could do them all. I do think we are leaning toward leaving from San Juan to be able to see more of the islands. We live in Florida, so it is hard to spend the money to fly to San Juan when we are used to just driving........

That is exactly why we go out of San Juan. We love being able to see as many islands as possible!!

  8. Adventure or Jewel, Southern Caribbean.

Agree with Bob!! Adventure of the Seas is a wonderful ship. We just did a B2B on Adventure leaving from San Juan and visited St. Maarten, St. Lucia, Antigua, St. Kitts, Barbados, Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao. All of them are AMAZING islands but we loved St. Kitts, Barbados, Bonaire and Curacao the most!! This was our first time in ABC islands and I would recommend it VERY highly if you haven't been!!

  9. I received an email yesterday for rccl which sent me to a govt site that showed certain islands...well actually most... had Zika Virus concerns.

I haven't heard anything about this in a long time. While I am not concerned, I was just surprised.

We were in the Caribbean for 2 weeks earlier this year and didn't get any bites. I wouldn't be worried about it. We didn't even see many bugs. That's one reason why we love the Caribbean! :D

  10. We were just in Curacao earlier this month and we took a city bus to Mambo beach for $2/person. It was a gorgeous beach and there were lots of people snorkeling in that area. In Aruba, we took the city bus to Eagle Beach for $5/person round trip. I wrote a small review of our trip and those were the last 2 islands we visited. I will link the review on here so you can view pictures and also how to get to the city bus pick up area.

    Enjoy your cruise!!!!

  11. We've done 2 B2Bs on Adventure of the Seas with RC and we didn't even have to get off the ship on the "middle day". We just met in a lounge and customs was there to take care of everything. B2Bs are the BEST way to go. I can't imagine only doing 7 days after doing 14 the last 2 years. It feels so good on that turnaround day to be able to wave bye to the people leaving and just hang by the pool all day. Pretty much have the place to yourself for a bit!!

  12. Following. We board in a week!

I'm green with envy!! Have a great anniversary cruise on my favorite ship!

For the OP: agree with Peek-a-Boo bridge! Very neat! The Solarium is one of our favorite places to hang out. It's mainly quiet and a great place to relax. When you go to the Windjammer, go all of the way to the back. Don't stop at the front just because that's the first place there is food. The back will be less busy and it's easier to find a seat.

    Enjoy your cruise!!!!!

  13. I got married in St. Thomas in 2009. We got on the ship on Sunday and we were getting married in St. Thomas Monday morning. I had called and made sure I could do a "dry run" on Sunday night with my hair and makeup. When we got on board, the salon was closed! I was freaking out. BUT they got someone to come and do it. I ended up going to the muster drill all fancied up! :D They did a GREAT job though and I was very happy! Here is a picture, it's a little hard to see but they were willing to do whatever I wanted with my hair and makeup. Yes they are wonderful with current styles. I wanted to make sure my hair was up because I was afraid it would be too hot with it down.

    Good luck and congrats!!!!!

  14. Thanks for sharing your review and photos. I have a question about Curacao. That long walk from the pier to the bus stop, was it safe? How long was the ride to Mambo? Thinking about doing this at least one way since there are 4 of us and as you said (and I have read prior) taxi fares are steep.Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

Oh yes, it was safe. I tend to get a little "freaked out" walking around sometimes just because you don't know how safe places really are. This was the most safe I've felt. Honestly the ABC islands seem to be a little different than the other southern Caribbean islands. You don't get hassled and things like that. I never felt once like I was somewhere I shouldn't be or anything like that. I was a little worried walking around at night since we went to dinner after dark but when we did it, I felt completely at ease! The ride to Mambo was about 15 mins. The only reason it was a little longer is because we had to drop a couple other people off to places on our way. But it was a cool way to see the island!
