  1. I have to disagree with other posters about staying away from deck 14, we stayed in room 14278 D6 Balcony Stateroom, absolutely no noise from any pools ever, nothing no noise. So if you are looking to stay at a higher deck I would go for it. Our room was also close enough to the elevators and once you got to the deck you needed you could walk in either direction. We loved every minute of our cruise.

  2. Ship - Oasis of the Seas

    Deck - 14

    Stateroom # - 14278

    Stateroom Category – D6

Starboard or Port Side - Port Side

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – I found this to be a very quiet room.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? -No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – A little obstructed to the left but nothing that worried me, when you pulled into port you had a clear view.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal, small round table and 2 chairs.

Was wind a problem? -Not a problem at all.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? -N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? -None

Any other comments? -I would choose this cabin again it was close enough to elevators. I loved it.

  3. No real Need for that as they have been Kind enough to already put a door sign on your door to easily tell your room apart from all the rest.;)

Now if you are talking about the number on the door that will be no help to my dear hubby. I think I will print out a picture of a Koala Bear, he will know which one is his then...lol

  4. With patience, considering the language issues. Not everyone does as you have done and immediately jumps to the conclusion that they are being "intrusive". If the original poster can be believed, the other couple was having difficulty making themselves understood and could have been searching for the correct wording to ask a simple "why did you chose this cruise?", which is how I understood the first two questions. The third question could have been yet another attempt to ask that same question. And furthermore, I have difficulty believing that poster's version of the conversation because considering how insensitive and mean they were to the other couple, it is quite suspect.

It is always best to err on the side of patience and compassion in such a situation and not instantly assume the worst.

I so agree with you sloopsailor and if Rob the Cruiser had of read the original post he would have seen that the Asian couple did not ask "How did someone like you afford to be on this cruise". Anyway I will stand by what I said, the response from the original poster was rude and not funny it just showed their ignorance for another human being. Enough said on the subject. The horse has bolted as they say. To late to close the gate now.

As for sloopsailor, I hope we get to be on the same cruise one day, you sound like my kind of person :)

  5. Based on some of the comments on this thread, I must say that some of you need to consider that the other people at your table might not have wanted to be around you!

I have been traveling on ships since the days when you had no choice but to dine with strangers. In those days, there were no tables for two - most tables were long, banquet type tables. But, the people at these tables were only strangers for the first few minutes. Then, with the right attitude of everyone around the table - including mine - no one remained a stranger for long.

As with everything else in life, it is what YOU make of it. If you fight it or have a bad attitude about something, you will NEVER enjoy it. Because YOU won't let yourself!

I never shied away from meeting people. My long, wonderful life has been much enriched by the strangers who have come into it, some for a short time, and some for a lifetime. Each has brought a new perspective, a new thought, a new appreciation about something I never considered before. And I am forever grateful for their willingness to share their life experiences, because knowing them has made my life fuller.

It is all what you make of it.

I truly hope I get to be on the same cruise as yourself one day. I would love to meet you. You sound like a beautiful lady with lots of stories to tell.

  6. Sounds some what similar to an experience we had - and the last time! We were seated with an Asian couple that spoke broken English. The woman asked "how you get here?" I asked her what did she mean "how we get here?" She said "how you pay for trip?" Being the smart a$$ I said "we're janitors and we collect aluminum cans throughout the year to pay for this trip." She sat there with her jaw dropped and I thought DH was going to split his pants from laughing so hard. I got up and went to the maitre'd and asked to be moved, that this was not going to work out. He sat us at a table with 3 other couples. It was bearable, but after that we always asked for a table for 2.

A nicer reply would have been, we flew in from such and such a place or we drove from Florida and we booked our trip through the internet or Travel agent.

At least she was making an effort to be nice and strike up a conversation even if it was broken English. Sorry I didn't find your post very humorous at all. I just don't see the need to be outright rude to people just because they come from a different country than you. You could have just been polite during that meal and then request different seating for the future.

  7. I certainly hope you don't put your home address on there! That would be a perfect invitation for a burglar to attack your home!

Put your cell phone # and your business address, ...that's all you need!

Actually I do put my full address in there, I have flown back and forth to Australia 16 times and 1 time I was glad I had my tag inside my suitcase, I had taken a stop over flight back to Canada and my bag ended up being lost, they found it in Japan a week later and it was shipped right to my door in Canada. Not a thing was missing including purchases I had made. I really don't think if a thief finds your address and he is on the other side of the world that he is going to jump on a plane to rob your house. But that being said, I guess if you are living next to the cruise port and you are only taking cruises then there could be a chance of this happening, In my opinion you would have to be one very unlucky person. I know there are some bad people in this world but I like to look on the positive side of life. JMO :)

  8. You should be able to start filling out your travel information online once you have a booking number (name, address, passport number, arrival/departure information and preferences). Part of this is the credit card number you plan on using for the onboard account. You should be able to select AMEX there. Feels like you have made progress toward the cruise when you do this!

Also make sure you check these boards and the boards for the ports you are visiting - a ton of useful information. Many ports like Fort Lauderdale have webcams so you can watch your ship.

The only problem with a first cruise is the amazing service you get that will hook you for life!

This is what I am afraid of, I usually fly to Australia from Canada every 2 years I might have to extend it to every 3 or 4 if we enjoy the cruise, which I am sure we will :)

  9. Our cruise is not until Feb 2015 but I want to get everything booked and organized beforehand. As you can probably tell, yes first time cruiser :)

My question is and I cannot work out on their website, has anyone used the Tri-Rail from Miami to Fort Lauderdale airport and if so is there a period when there is no service, our flight does not land until 10.40pm by the time we get out of customs it would be after 11.00pm if this service does not work after that hour any suggestions on getting to FLL as far as transportation for just the 2 of us? We are booked in to the Extended stay hotel in FLL. Thanks for any help.

  10. Now to find someone to host that spreadsheet (unless someone bumps this thread once in a while)- so many times people ask questions that would be answered in a second looking at that. That kind of format makes for a very easy look.

(that, and make a sister form for the Allure. oh, and a novel for the Quantum/Anthem...:D)

I will do one when I get to go on more cruises. I know I had asked the question and that's why I decided to see what I could find and put the list together. The one on the website is a scrolling list that you cannot print out to keep. If I get the time I will correct my original list and put it on my glass website if allowed.

  11. For further proof, here is a link to the Johnny Rocket's Breakfast Menu on RCI's site:

    http://media.royalcaribbean.com/content/en_US/pdf/Johnny%20Rockets%20Breakfast%20Menu.pdf

No proof needed, I did not say they didn't give a complimentary breakfast, I just said I couldn't find it on the website. I am a newbie to cruising so please be gentle with me. I thought the list might be helpful to some people. :)

  12. For the foodies on board. I have made a list of the dining options and deck numbers as advertised on the Royal Caribbean website. N/C means No Charge $ means there is a cover charge. Gives us first time cruisers a chance to see where we can head to for a meal.

I have been told by another cruiser that Johnny Rockets has a complimentary Breakfast. I could not find this on the website so I did not include this in my list.

  13. As this is your first cruise and booking experience I would suggest the easiest way to resolve this might be to contact RCI reservations directly at 866-562-7635. If you have your online reservation / booking number they would be able to look it up and work with you on next steps and your deposit. They should still be able to look up your stateroom hold with your name if you don't have the reservation / booking number. Worst case they could handle setting up a new one for you.

Thank you to both of you I will call this afternoon.:)

  14. Please excuse my ignorance. This is my first time posting as well as going on a cruise. My question is this, I did a reserved booking online with Royal Caribbean last night and it said held for 24 hours, i went online today to try and finish and pay for the booking but I can't find anywhere where it says to pay. Can anyone help please or do I have to start all over again?
