It still amazes the number of negative people on these boards.  And they don't want anyone ELSE to have fun either....different strokes for different folks.  If they want to be miserable, they are more than welcome to.  We're going to have a fantabulous cruise, people or no people. All we need are our cruise buds!  Views and Ques looked like they were having an absolute ball...prison??????  NOT

You need not be so nasty and critical of me on a personal level. I have never done so to you and/or anyone individually. Like you and everyone else on these boards, I'm entitled to state my thoughts and opinions and I make no apologies to you for doing so. And it isn't that I'm being negative but rather I'm not as positive as you about cruising under these types of protocals. To a level that a policing is needed.  There are other ways to enjoy a vacation that does not require them.

Also... I don't care that you have fun! Why should I? Go enjoy yourself. I actually hope you do. And you are totally correct, different strokes for different folks. I'll wait until the real world of cruising starts. I have my reservation in place and will book another soon enough. But not for this year!

We are fully vaccinated and see no need to be wearing masks and social distancing on Royal ships. So if they want to do this, we will cancel along with some friends that say the same thing. They are are not going to come all the way from NE to wear masks on a ship.

I don't blame you. We haven't had to wear masks since mid April and there is no way I'm gioing back to that world, especially while on a vacation.

Yup. I am sure that after watching a couple of YouTube videos, you are a much better judge that those who were actually on the ship.

Well I most definitely have a different perspective. That's a given. Not sure how or why you can not accept that. But bottomline, I really am glad that you had a wonderful cruise. It just isn't the type of cruise for me. And it's why we were not on the cruise as well.

Low crowds, far less annoying/loud people, not having to make small talk with random people at breakfast lunch or dinner. Less of a party atmosphere and more of a chill vacation atmosphere. Sounds like my type of cruise. So  much in fact I’m on July 3. Hope, it is even less crowded than Birds.

I’m sure it will go down with deserted Vegas, deserted Hawaii, deserted Universal, and deserted Disneyworld as my best vacations ever. Pandemic traveling has been wonderful and I wish travel like this with low crowds would continue but alas this will probably be my last pandemic low crow trip.

What you describe is absolutely not a typical RCL cruise. Enjoy your cruise!

100% disagree. The ship was representative of the general public. It was a great experience. It was by no way a morgue. You should have been there. For those of us who cruise 4-5 times a year, it was a wonderful cruise vacation.

Well like I said... like attracts like. You & the others I'm almost sure had a wonderful cruise. I don't doubt that. Based on your review and the vloggers vids, it was not a typical RCL cruise. It is what it is. And no matter how you or others attempt to package, it wasn't.

The ship will like be a prison I can think of nothing worse.

Well if you saw the vloggers vids of the first Adventure sailing is was a morgue. The only people on that cruise were TAs, Vloggers, and some very serious die hard cruisers. None of which would be considered the general public as each of them had a vested interest to be there under those conditions. The cruise could have been cheap, cheap, cheap and you couldn't pay me to be on that cruise. I cruise for pleasure. That cruise is not what most of us cruise for. Now they're adding protocal police to the payroll? Forget about it. I'll sit back, wait and watch until real crusing starts up again. Cause the product they're putting out now is not what I'd call a cruise vacation.

There are plenty of other vacations a family can take without the same restrictions.  Royal would likely rather have those people go to Disney World than on their ships.

I have to disagree. If this was the case, then all Royal would have to do is cancel everyone with kids and mandate sailings like Carnival has. But they didn't. They want the kids. The families, and the money they bring.

We are scheduled the second week of sailing on Freedom and have kids and teens that will not be vaccinated.  Has there been any information released that I have missed about what ship activities will be off-limits?  I'm assuming all the kids club stuff will be normal because that group will primarily be unvaccinated, but what about teen activities and comedy shows, trivia, games, etc?

This is not intended to be a debate regarding vaccination status or requirements.  I'm simply trying to determine how much of the evening entertainment activities will be available for our older kids and teens who are unvaccinated before the July 2 sailing returns to hopefully avoid making a very last minute decision about sailing or canceling.  The evening entertainment and the promenade area is a large part of what we enjoy about cruising.

    Thanks in advance!

I suspect you & the fam will be fine. I'm willing to wager that y'all will be able to visit any & all venues & shows but they will be based on certain time frames. Vaxed at one time, nonvaxed and vaxed at another. Enjoy your cruise.

  9. We did GS1600 on the Brilliance for a Baltic cuise. Simply amazing views. As mentioned it was a bit smaler than other GS but the aft balacony is larger and we thoroughly enjoyed the views. The concierge lounge was really nice. I stopped by nightly before dinner and the service was solid. If you can get it, I'd do it. We managed to get 1600 for a JS price as we booked within the first few minutes the cruise went on sale. We were trying for 1100 but RCL's infmaous IT dept had 1600 listed at JS pricing, so the RCL agent suggested I grab it. Which we did.

They don’t know how long the antibodies last. From what I read it can be possibly less than 3 months. Many people have had covid and still decided to get the vaccines. Why would they not want to take the vaccine and hopefully avoid some of the horrible continuing illnesses that some have been having? Ask yourself that.

You have no idea how long your vaccine is going to last either. Zip. Zero. Zilch. And they wouldn't want to take it because they've already HAD COVID. It's like buying two airline tickets for the same flight in case the flight crashes at least you have another seat! LOL

Seems like everyone keep forgetting this is a vacation not a basic human right.  Don't like it, don't cruise. Do something else. Let your wallet speak for yourself.

True. A vacation is not a basic human right... but the idea of segregating the public is against every basic human right there is. If you can have a vacation, so can I. So can my neighbor, my Pastot, my Doctor, my Teacher, and so forth. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Show me a business that has been dragged thru the mud like the cruise lines have. Most businesses don’t have to prove that they can conduct business safely with thousands of people in one location for days on end. Also, what other businesses have been under the thumb of the CDC like the cruise lines???? You can’t even compare what is going on with any other business in the US unless they involve cruises. 🙄

Well that's my. point, they shouldn't have to prove anything to a government agency. Only to their cusyomers. If the CDC would get out of their way, they'd figure this out. But jumping through the hoops is crazy and has prevented the industry from starting earlier.

As someone who survived covid ( I use survive in its literal meaning I had very bad) and then got vaccinated.  I did it because I never ever want to be that sick again. I never want to call my friends and apologies for maybe exposing them (no one got sick off me masking and distance worked)    I also know I didn't have the newest mutated stands of Covid like delta because it wasn't around here when I got sick. My hope and science has shown it to be true is that the vaccines will help against  these mutations, maybe not as much but at least some.

Also it is  just 2 shots and a couple of days of feeling crappy......worth it

I'm not sure when you got covid and/or your subsequent vaccine. There was alot of unknowns early on regarding natural immunities so getting the vax was probably wise at that time. But today, studies are beginning to show that natural immunities are as good as the vaccine itself. Like you, I'm hoping the vaccines fight of any mutations as I don't have any other help with natutal immunities.
