Well my deciscion would be easy- well you can´t go wrong on either, both great ships. Dida TA on board Silhouette and Hawaii on board Infnity. Loved both cruises. Yes Infinity is the older ship- but I prefer M- class over S- class. For different reasons - most of all- M- class has at least a prommenade deck, were one can sit you in the quite, without constant music as on the top decks ( exept for the Solstice Deck) ! More public rooms are facing the ocean- means they have nice view´s out to the sea. Silhouette is more " indoors" ! Infinity got upgraded not long ago!
-
We still don´t know what´s wrong with the Infinity- don´t we? As for the " little" Martinis- well they are free- you can have as much as you want. So were is the problem??? Does it take to long to get drunk???
I was tought that nobody should look a gifthorse into the mouth! Some people seem to make a hobby out of complaining about everything and everybody!
-
I do not blame anyone who does not report- no one wants to linger around others when not feeling all to well anyway. The room steward- well on a cruise a very reasonable excuse- hang over...!
-
Grandeur was my very first " Megaliner" ( she was considered a " Megaliner" back then) and ingnited my heavy cruise addiction. I still have kind of a " soft spot " for the now old Lady! From Voyager onwards they are to big for my taste and to many public rooms are indoors! So, since Grandeur got a nice refit latley I would highly recommend it!

I always get room service breakfast when in Concierce Class- I tipp two dollars for each served breakfast! I love to have breakfast in the cabin and therefore avoid to join the buffet with all the hussle and bussle. Breakfast in the MDR takesssssssssssssss sooooooooooooo long and I am absolutley no morning person who likes conversation early in the morning! Oh I got carried away..! The stewards always seemed to happy about it. I am happy- they shall be happy also. LOL

Oh dear Turtle 66 and other prommenade deck " lovers" I agree completly. The breakway is a good example how they can built new ships WITH a propper ( well almost. LOL) Prommenade Deck. I sailed Solstice , Eclipse and Silhouette some twice - they are wonderful ships no question about it, but when I get the chance to choose between M- Class and S- Class I definatley will take a M- Class!
The pictures of Eclipse is typical for the S- Class- since there is no prommenade deck everyone gathers around the Top Deck´s! The only " secret and calm " place is the high up Solstice Deck! Quite a few steps to climb up - but worth it!

Thanks for the update!

Well those photo´s tell more than a thousand words- it is a shame really on board the otherwise wonderful S- Class ships!
-
Oh how I wish to fit 3 times into those robbes! LOL! I squeeze my feet in those slippers- once done they fit always. LOL! I also sometimes prefer the waffle robbe in warmer climates!
-
They all have- prommenade decks ( not wrap around ones ) . Those on board Millenium Class are great, one of my favorite spots to lounge and enjoy the sea without the noise of the upper decks to be precise. Solstice Class- well one can not really call what they have a propper prommenade deck since they have a very limited view to the sea, all the view is blocked by the liveboats. Every ship has its " running - jogging track " !

Sounds interessting- so some people ( who dine in " the Grand" ) are dressed to the nines and others are casually dressed- oh well maybe the stick to their dress codes. Did I get it right and there will be longer a real MDR on board Anthem and Quantum?
-
Some people tend to be a bit overboard- almost geting hysteric about catching this and that. Washing hands often- washing hands after useing the bathroom should be common sense, since we learned that as kids, all right and good. One does everything to avoid getting infected, but IMO the worst is to be afraid of everything. I agree with forecten- rubber gloves would really be to much - as for shakeing hands- well even the captain avoids doing so sometimes.
It is a proven fact that all those spreading allergies and such are due to overdone , hysteric hygiene levels- so some people just can´t built their own self defence system.
-
I also loved their webcams- so nice to see realtives in the computer room and of course the bridge cams. I understand those in the computer rooms ( now Martini Bar on M- Class ships) may have interfered with the privacy of the passengers, but they could have put the bridge cams back on!

All said - I sailed Cunard three times and wore always exactly the same as on board Celebrity ships- evening it is always a jacket- that´s right. All in all it makes for a nice elegant cruise experience! I love Cunard´s ships! Those wrap around prommenade decks alone are worth sailing with them! LOL!

What a great and long lasting thread, so interessting to read! Thx!

Also a tip of the hat for the OP- I agree- and I find you should foreward this post or transfer it into a mail to Captains Club- regardless what you spend on board, as Elite plus you have spend a whole lot of money with them and so you earned all the benefits that comes with Elite plus and should be more than threated like loyal customer. We run a few coffee shops here in germany and when we have a customer who spends money every day on coffee and maybe someting else - but not much more- we are more than happy to have him - EVERY DAY! That is what counts!

Even with all the " ajustments" the " X " Brand made over the years one still get´s a hell of lot for the money spend in my opinion! Luxury is a word that also get´s " ajusted " over the years. What once was a " luxury" is nowadays the common thing we are used too. If you want real , over the top luxury- well one has to pay for it!
I still have my problems with the loud music- but that seems to be taken care of from the Miami Headquaters, so I will so for myself in a month!
As for these drinking packages- I sure am not a penny pincher but one pays the tip in advance when you buy the package- so when I am satisfied with a bar tender, waiter etc. I tip a little extra at the end of the cruise, I never would have to schlepp these many Dollar Bills around!
-
Sure sound like Dimitrius- great Captain to have- we all loves his messages from the " briz"
-
I have to agree- loud music- well I can´t really remember how often I complained about that rather stupid idea, which obviously came from the headquaters in Miami. Then the packages- I usualy take just the classic one- since I am not a big alcohol drinker! My one Martini every evening is not enough to compensate the cost. I too found some bartenders, waiters who saw the classic package sign were not overly happy and some almost rude! Others could not have been more friendly or attentive ( esp. in All Baccio) ! I moved to Cunard and had an experience as with X ten or so years ago, much more costly of course...! I am back on Infiniy in a few weeks, so I will see how X is doing after almost 1,5 years. Also I am trying RCCI again for a change.
-
Loud music is appropiate in the Disco/Nightclub, which usually is enclosed- and only there! To loud in my book is when, as the OP so rightly stated, one has to rise is own voice in order to make a propper conversation.
-
...and what if some of " the older generation" does like the music " for 8 year olds" ?
-
Oh dear- some just don´t get it- it is not about the music in general- most of us " loud music complainers" are really fond of music- it is just TOOOOOOO LOUDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!
-
Yes Michaels used to be the Cigar Lounge - I enjoyed Michaels sometimes during the day as well- very cozy and nice decorated room- a little like an English club!
-
I agree- it is not what they play BUT HOW LOUD THEY PLAY it!

How great to read such a wonderful and well stated review from a happy cruiser! I can´t wait to board Infinity in two weeks- so I can see fopr myself if X is still up to it, after my X- break of 1,5 years!! !
Even more glad to go, because it was not sure I could sail at all- after some buisness glitches! Everything turned out good and is sorted out! ! ! So I am back on board!
