  1. And I guess this just shows that his reputation is correct... Instead of honoring the City View tickets, you have to request a refund and then rebook on Old Town at the 50% higher price.

Yep. To oversimplify this was a family thing from the beginning. The son-in-law worked for his FIL who owns Historic Tours of America. Divorce ensued and SIL opened City View Trolley as a competitor operating at roughly half the cost to the public. Evidently they weren't doing as well as I suspected with this latest news. (Or maybe they got remarried, LOL) The complete details have not surfaced yet.

    Mike;)

  2. We are actually on City Trolley. Their website says "eTickets Valid for Hop-on Hop-Off on one trip for each ticket holder." I have called several times to clarify and just get an answering machine.

Congratulations as you are on the better of the two trolley companies in Key West. Your tickets are good for all day, one day, as many times as you wish to board and disembark.

    Mike:)

  3. Hey Keywester33, didn't see it mentioned in this thread so I thought I'd ask for your thoughts on Santiago's Bodega? Reviews I have read have been really good.

Most agree it is the #1 restaurant in town. Reservations are strongly urged as it is very busy.

    Mike:)

  4. Key West is an amazing stop to get off at and look around. Lots of cool history and fun little bars and restaurants to check out. Great food, amazing people and totally worth the stop.

For a first visit walking down to the Hemingway House is a nice way to admire some of the architecture and learn about some of the history of the island. Also the Hemingway House has polydactyl cats :) :)

Try some Key Lime Pie or go to Kilwins on Duval for the best fudge ever!

I would agree with all of the above except I would skip Kilwins in favor of something local like Flamingo Crossing Handmade Ice Cream. Kilwins is a yankee institution from MIchigan and has stores all over the country.

  5. If you desire a narrated tour there are only two: Old Town Trolley https://www.trustedtours.com/store/old-town-trolley-tour-of-key-west.aspx

    and City View Trolley https://prod.mkat.com/mktixrun/shared/mknporun?dir=custom.MKT-895.CVKW-E22923&Event=CVKW-E22923&page=mk2eventregisterfrm.jsp

The latter being cheaper and better overall.

You will have no trouble locating either if arriving via ship as they will be directly in front of you.

    Mike.:)

  6. A tree fell on the fort causing significant damage which will not be repaired. This has been removed and cleaned up and the fort is already open with weddings planned beginning next week.

    Mike:)

  7. Key West is open and needing tourist $$$.

Ships are using the port and Fantasy Fest just wrapped up this past Saturday.

I seriously doubt that you will be able to find any evidence of Irma come February.
