  1. If you notice from my signature I have not been cruising that long and I was suckered into playing the first few cruises. I then realized that it was impossible to win that jackpot so I stopped buying the largest package and would buy the least amount. I did notice on my last cruise that it was not nearly as packed as before. I'm guessing that yes people are getting wiser to the scam.

  2. UBP used to not be sold to those under 25, I believe, during spring break. I’m guessing people would be mad if it wasn’t offered at a perk during this time period. I remember going on spring break, definitely tons of drinking and no free booze.

That's exactly what I thought. Maybe they changed the policy.

  3. On the Epic, we watched a mom bring her 2 kids up to POSH in the late afternoon when we were all sitting out by the bar, enjoying adult beverages and conversation. The bartender immediately told the mother that the kids were not allowed! :)

What was she thinking??? I'm so glad that the bartender said something.

  4. My issue is with NCL making no effort to control the situation. They have a lot of staff in the Haven on Escape. They should be empowered to at least notify the concierge about kids (or anyone) that is out of hand. Guests shouldn't have to complain.

It's highly unlikely that we would sail NCL again. Was thinking their Haven product was the luxury experience I was looking for but it's simply, not. For those saying to just sail a luxury line, the reason I liked the Haven was the ship within a ship concept. I like the mass market, fun, family atmosphere. I like the kids, waterslides, craft bars, entertainment (though NCL has dismal entertainment, and general feel of the big ships. I thought the Haven, as the name and marketing implies, would be the quiet getaway when we wanted to relax.

Hopefully this thread has at least helped others who may have misunderstood what the Haven is. Lesson learned! Still had a nice time, but way too much money for such a subpar product.

It is marketed like a ship within a ship but unfortunately we live in an entitled world and the families with the unruly kids have parents that teach them that they can act any way they want to because they are "ENTITLED' and that Momma and Daddy paid to be here, It's really frustrating and it makes the Haven not so desirable but we love some of the other benefits of the Haven that keeps us booking Haven staterooms.

  5. They so need an adult only Haven. People are paying too much to not be able to enjoy it. We stayed in the Haven last cruise and didn't go to the lounge one time. I just don't have the patience to be around a bunch of screaming kids and parents thinking that it's ok for their kids to act like that. We're staying in the Haven again on the Bliss and I'm keeping my fingers cross that it won't be crawling with a lot of kids.I really want to enjoy it.

  6. Did a little research. I think poster was on Getaway out of NYC. Anyway, I am boarding the Sun on 3/16. I hate to read reports of people not getting good timely medical care on cruises. Hope the poster arrives home soon to recover.

They got good care, '. While I think he received good care, billing was incompetent,'. Billing is the issue.

  7. Our order of preference would be H7, H9, H5

There is a more space in the H7 over the more expensive H5. We book either H7 or H9. The spa passes in the H9 are worth $400 (which we would buy separately in an H7 or H5). And there is the large tub in the H9.

My and I will never do a H9 again because the tub takes up too much space and I only used it as a tub. I would much rather have the separate living area.. I stayed in a forward and loved it. That or the Aft are my preferred choice.

  8. Most ALL hotels that have a restaurant or gift shop inside the hotel allow you to make charges to your room the exact same way cruises do charges to your room. A lot of hotels, especially large resorts, are going to cashless systems like this as well as their preferred payment method while on property.

I travel for work every week and I have to give a credit card when I check into the hotel. No credit card, no stay. You're not even allowed to give cash so for cruise lines to accept that is amazing to me. I'm just not sure what the issue really is.

  9. I called about a comp room on the May 13th sailing from NY to Bermuda on the Escape today(1/12/18). I'm Pearl and all she offered me was an inside, I wasn't happy at all. My cruise in December was a Mini Suite so I was totally disappointed with the call today. She said that NCL changed how they determine what level of cabin to comp last September. They are making ti harder to get comped the nicer cabins.

  10. We have been there twice on the Breakaway and going again in May on the Escape. I absolutely love sailing there and staying the 2 1/2 days. One night we went to Bone-fish where they had a Deejay and it was GREAT!!!! There was also so much to do on the ship at night we did not get bored and was sad to leave. I love the atmosphere on the Escape. It's by far my favorite ship but I've only been on Breakaway, Getaway and Escape.
