  1. I just got back from San Juan and stayed at the Olive Boutique Hotel. It's in the Condado area where there are restaurants open. The hotel is using a generator but it is a beautiful little hotel with a wonderful staff.

Did you have any problems getting from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the port? Trying to convince my husband to go on the cruise 12/10. He's really skeptical.

  2. What would a cruise critic review be without a little criticism... our room service coffee and danish

My only criticism is there is not enough coffee for Two Cups in this carafe. We marked coffee for 2 and this is what we received enough for 1-1/2 cups total. Pro tip , order for 4 to hopefully get enough for two full cups, one cup each ..

It's not the Haven room service that you are used to. It's very disappointing. We ordered once and that was more than enough.

  3. I wish people on this board weren't so pro-insurance. The whole industry makes me sick; it only exists to profit off illness, disaster and misery.

We need insurance for everything in our lives. Medical, dental, car, property, etc.... So, what's the difference here? We get travel insurance every time. We have elderly parents and we are also getting older. Anything can happen and when you look at what you are paying in comparison to what they will pay out you are definitely coming out the winner. It's not worth the gamble.

  4. All aft-facing balconies on Escape are very good/excellent when it comes to privacy. The only way to be seen from above is if you are all the way at the railing and leaning over it. The H6 can only be seen from one side if your neighbor looks over (it happens) but even then, the neighbor can't really see everything unless using a selfie-stick. ;p The large balconies on the side (M6, for example) offer very little/no privacy from above.

Escape aft-facing size is 9, 12, 15, (11 & 14 are nearly identical), 10, 13 in depth from deepest to least deep. The views are probably the best on the ship as the H6 can see aft, side, and even partially forward.

There are 2 different master bedroom/master bathroom configurations configurations for the H6 but with the bid process, you probably wouldn't have a choice. 9,10,12,13,15 are Configuration A, 11 & 14 are Configuration B. Some avoid the highest decks because of potential noise/bass from Spice H2O at night. Deck 15 is right under the Garden Cafe but noise shouldn't be much of a problem during the day (the corner sections of the Garden Cafe are carpeted so less noise than the center tiled sections).

I'm on the Escape in December currently booked in a Haven FWD but my husband and I decided to change to a AFT when I make the final payment. Can you tell me where I can find a layout of the 2 configuratons? There are 2 suites available on desk 11 but I ruled those out because when I look at them on desk drawings they look smaller.

  5. The only time that I didn't get the perks was when I did an upsell. I have always upgraded to a Haven so I pay the complete difference between what my comp cabin is and the Haven suite that I want. I then get all 4-5 perks that's being offered. In fact, my upcoming cruise is a CAS cruise. I was being offered a balcony and I chose to upgrade to the Haven. I'm getting all the perks of the Haven.

  6. I've stayed in that suite with 4, but there is plenty of room for 6. The second bedroom is spacious and I believe the bed is a full or queen. My sister stayed in that bedroom and she has zero complaints. I have a vid on YouTube of the suite also. It's the one that's about 8 minutes long lol.

Thanks for your reply. I'll search for you YouTube video after work.

  7. Hi All,

We're thinking about sailing on the Escape out of Manhattan to Bermuda on the May 13-20 2018 sailing. My question is do you think it would be comfortable for me(60), DH(56), DD(33), her husband(32), DS(30) and his girlfriend(25). I have looked at the YouTube video and the second bedroom looks extremely small. It looks like when the couch is converted to the bed it'll be right up against the TV. Does anyone know how that works? Would the suite be too crowed with 6 adults? Thanks in advance for all your opinions.

I don't, sorry. But it's just like yours just a different color. That steamer comes in 2 sizes and I have the little travel one. We bought it just for the cruise.

We didn't take it again because it doesn't do a great job. We just sent our things down for pressing the first night with that offer of 50% off whatever you can fit in a bag.
