Yes, the lounge is small and the elite/platinum's know how to play the game. They show up early. When we got there, early also, the lounge was full and spilling over outside. We were lucky to fund two chairs sitting along side the wall.
More passengers arrived and joined the crowd waiting. Some did not check in at the front desk and when they started to let us go, they were then sent back to get in line to check in. Large crowd around the lounge and some confusion.
Bob
Used the lounge when we finally became elite - wanted to take advantage of our new perk. After that just waited outside the lounge and got in line once the overflow started moving - no sense being crowded while waiting anyway

Anyone know where to go for wheelchair assistance? I know Ft. Lauderdale is on the side of the building but last time out of Brooklyn 2 years ago could not find anyone who could knew anything or could help. Had to board without wheelchair and they was not easy and none of the staff seemed to care:(. Any help greatly appreciated.....thanks.
The one time we actually used the elite/platinum lounge in Brooklyn there were some passengers in wheelchairs. They were actually the first to board. I'm sorry though, I don't know how they got their wheelchairs

Have cruised out of Brooklyn several times. There is an elite/platinum lounge. It gets very crowded and cannot accommodate everyone. Those who do get in will be among the first to board.

The Turkey sandwich with tomato on those seeded buns is very good. I need to try the shrimp salad

The BBQ panini is my favorite. Tried the orzo salad during my last cruise (with goat cheese and cranberries) and ended up having it 3 times. On the dessert side - pistachio cup and peanut butter cup. The PB cup never appeared on the CB in June so I hope it still exists. IC is one of my favorite stops

Love those peanut butter cups, kept looking for them on the Regal last fall...never saw them either

If you book a cruise with a NON REFUNDABLE deposit rule and use your FCD you will lose it if you cancel.
When you book make sure that the deposit required is fully refundable.
What if you are paid in full and have princess vacation protection and have to cancel. Does insurance cover the otherwise non-refundable deposit??

Absolutely miss and think about people we have met on prior cruises. We do try to keep in touch via FB. Also look forward to seeing some cruise friends who have been doing the same cruise as us for the past 4 years...its like a yearly reunion.

We have always had Anytime Dining
On one occasion when we showed up at the Anytime Dining Room - they escorted us to and seated us at a table for two in the Traditional Dining Room (obviously they had open tables there with no wait)
When port departure has been late evening - the ship had open seating in all three dining rooms, traditional and anytime
I'm sure that in the event your excursion causes you to miss your traditional dining time and you speak with the MD they will accommodate you somewhere in one of the dining rooms.

Here are some tips I gave to a coworker who was new to cruising as well as to princess so some of these might not be for you.
1. check in early, no matter they tell you, get there early--as soon as the terminal opens. it’s rare to get on board by 12:30 but it happens esp if no one else is there!
2. if you can carry on your bags, do so because then you don’t have to wait to have them delivered.
3. same on the way out, get up early, go to international cafe and get a seat/coffee and then you are the first ones off, no waiting
the international cafe has the best pastries, and they are free and open 24x7
4. share a coffee card, it’s worth it
5. when you get on board, if you check luggage, take a carry on that has your bathing suit and sun hat, book etc
6. when you board early, the dining room is open, skip the buffet, it’s crowded. you get a sit down lunch for free!
7. the princess patter is your friend. read it.
8. before lunch day 1, after you drop bags, go to the sanctuary and book chairs.
top of the ship in front with great viewing, adults only and quiet they will have often have special deals on the at sea days with special views like panama canal
9. Crown Grill: get the black and blue cheese French onion soup
10. take your wine if you want, drinking in your room is no corkage. also fun to do is get snacks from horizon court like cheese and eat with wine as appetizeers in room
11. took tide pods or powdered soap if you want to do laundry on board.
12. take ziplock bags, some shore days you can pack sandwiches and snacks
13 day pack obviously
14, only two outlets in room some people extension cords and/or multi prong
15. when you check in ask your room steward for bathrobes and extra hangers if you need
they will also bring wineglasses and if you need a corkscrew you can borrow one
magnetic hooks are amazing, because the walls are metal so they are great for hanging up your hats, room key etc.
16, wristlet or etc to hold phone and cruise card.
17. insulated mug or insulated glass with a cover because the beverage cups are small and uncovered, so it's nice to have a larger mug of whatever. (tip, we put our rose win in the insulated mug by the pool!)
18. a little iphone speaker is nice
19. hat and sunglasses clip so you don’t lose them
20. the promenade is your friend. (not on the new ships, sniff!)
21 the shows are great on princess. get there early, they fill up
22. have a coco loco drink for me.
23. take the stairs always, never the elevator.
24. do the princess app on board so you can message each other.
whats a coco loco drink??

This is exactly what I did with our British Isles cruise, right before final I converted the booking to the promo with lower fare and non refundable deposit. Figured beyond that if I had to cancel it would be covered by trip insurance .

Exactly what my vacation planner said...thank you
-
Per Princess you can "move" a FCD from a non-refundable deposit cruise to another cruise without losing the FCD.
Good to know...hope this is true
-
Well today a new promo started on our cruise...substantially lower fare than what we booked at. Called my Princess Vacation Planner. Even though the terms and conditions did not state it was a non-refundable deposit...my planner said it was because it is so close to final payment. She said that after final payment it doesn't matter because it is covered under the vacation protection (which we always get)...so unless I plan on cancelling within next few weeks, no problem per Princess on the non-refundable deposit
-
and their answer was.... ????????
I never called them. Still watching the cruise I have booked to see if a better offer comes up before final payment (without a non-refundable deposit)

What is the difference in the 2 drinks?
Dirty Banana has alcohol in it...I think its vodka...kinda like a mudslide but with banana added

Yes, hubby always wears his tux on formal nights. I wear either a nice cocktail dress or gown. We enjoy dressing up...part of the cruise experience.
-
Just my opinion, but one formal night would probably be enough for a 7 day cruise for most people these days.
Would tend to agree with you on this...although we enjoy dressing up for formal nights..we usually do a 10 day cruise so 2 nights out of 10 is good...1 night out of 7 sounds good...and perhaps that would be a compromise for those who do not like to dress up while still maintaining a true formal night for those that do.
-
Absolutely...this year will mark the 5th year in a row that we have done the same repo from NY to Caribbean to FL..Love all the sea days, and the chance to relax on the Caribbean beaches. Also have made a number of friends who also do the same cruise every year and we look forward to seeing each other once a year...its like a reunion of sorts

What if you are in one of these cabins and you do not want to use or carry around the *****, can you just use your regular card as in the past???

When asking my Husband what his favorite food is on Princess - without hesitation he said ESCARGOT....hope they never stop serving it!
-
Love the Souffles and Creme Brulee...however am sometimes so stuffed after dinner I can't eat a dessert.
Also love that salmon is always available as it is my favorite fish. We usually enjoy most of the fish and seafood entrees.
Husband loves his ceasar salad every night.
Sounds like we need to try the goat cheese souffle.
Oh, and we think Princess has the Best Dinner Rolls!...hard not to eat just one!
-
Can anyone tell me which dining room on the Regal is reserved for Club Class and also which entrance do they use, port or starboard side?
Thank you!
-
Thank you for your replies...guess I need to call my Princess Rep to further clarify
-
If a cruise is booked with a future cruise deposit (refundable deposit at the time of booking) and later the price drops but the deposit is non-refundable, if I refare is my deposit now non-refundable
If it is non-refundable and I cancel with cancel for any reason insurance - do I get the deposit back?
Thank you for your help.
-
We too would appreciate more of the Caribbean vibe on the ship...music especially at the pool in the afternoons
Non refundable deposit

Confused about this...my Princess Vacation Planner said if we cancel after final payment...insurance would cover the deposit...is this not true??
