  1. So today is final packing day, last minute laundry, groceries for the kids. Not kids really - in their 20’s. Neither drive right now so we’re stocking up.

I’m home from work fighting a cold so hoping I will be on the mend before the flight on Saturday morning. Hopefully I won’t need it but I’ll have to grab a good decongestant for the flight.
One more day of work, but I can’t complain, as it’s only my fourth week back.
I saw Matt’s videos and the ship looks like she is just about ready to go.

Thanks to everyone for following along and contributing answers. 💕

It's not showing for this Sunday's Oasis sailing, so unlikely to be on the app for any subsequent sailings.

I have an iPhone and even though the App Store had no update, it wasn’t really updated. You have to logout but my app doesn’t have that on my iPhone. I deleted the app then downloaded it again from the App store and everything was now there - including MDR menus, new deck plans, etc. Try to do this at home as you never know how good Voom will be on a sailing.

I'll be on the Dec 1 sailing right after you.  I've asked this before, but this is first time directed toward someone on the refurbed Oasis......can you check out Playmakers and confirm if they are showing all or multiple NFL games on Sunday (boarding day)?   TIA.

I think they are supposed to show 10 or so games? I just want to see if they will show the 107th Grey Cup which is the Canadian Championship game on the 24th.  😁🏈

Also, I know yours is an Easter Carrib and I'm doing the Western itinerary, but if you can report back which nights are the formal nights and maybe snap some MDR menus, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and have an amazing cruise!

I will confirm the formal nights.
The menus are posted in the app so I won’t be posting photos of them.

Would love to see pics of the Cruise Compass.

Also reviews and info on the Music Hall.

We are on her on the 8th. Have a GREAT cruise!

I am also looking forward to Music Hall. I hope they still have some seats like Dazzles did as I won’t be able to stand for too long.
As far as the Compasses, I won’t be posting them in this review.  I think you can search Cruise Compasses on a browser after this sailing and you may be able to track it down. I could mention a couple of sources but it might be promoting other sites which might be against CC rules.

Cruise Compasses can be unique to a specific sailing or not, but if you have something specific you are expecting or looking for you can let me know and I will try to look it up.

She's a big fan. To bad you are skipping it, this is an updated version. 90 minutes with no intermission

I really loved the music and it is included in the fare but on a 7 day cruise it’s a one and done for us.  Nothing against the production as it was fantastic and I highly recommend to anyone that hasn’t seen it to attend. 🎶🎶

Can’t wait to hear about it.  We are sailing on her over Christmas.

I’m hoping they will decorate early for the holidays. It was a day or so before US Thanksgiving on one of our previous cruises. We’re Canadian 🇨🇦 and are looking forward to having a 2nd Thanksgiving on the ship.

Fantastic, very excited. Will be on Oasis in February for a 50th birthday cruise.

Congratulations! I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.

I'd love to see the song list from CATS

We’ve seen it already on another sailing so we are passing on it this time but I will ask. My question is how does Bella feel about CATS?😉

  8. 2016 was our last and only sailing on Oasis. We’ve been on Allure a few times and Harmony once. I’ll post photos and comments when I can.
We are so excited to see the new changes on Oasis.

Balcony room on the bump or hump.

It’s been a year since our last cruise. I had a knee replacement early in May that I’m still recovering from. I’ll have a walker on standby. Lots of trips to the onboard gym and going to try Aqua classes if I can get in the pool.

Labadee: Lounger for two on the Beach

San Juan: Hope to walk around town

    St. Thomas: Magens Bay
We are not upper tier or suite so no access to Coastal Kitchen or Diamond Lounge.

Bags are only half packed but we’re ready to go. 🎶😁

It's on the main screen that shows the ship where you click for the deck plans!

It's on the Nov24 sailing too...same screenshots as above apply.

I must be tech challenged. I’m on the 24th and it doesn’t show up. I have the RC update from a week ago.

  10. Hi Andrew & Lisa,

Along again for this great review.

Mmm Caesars! 🇨🇦 Easy on the rimmer?

Also just curious about a question asked on another board. Are there dart boards available in Playmakers? 😳 I’m thinking it might be a hazard but you never know...

Also is Playmakers accommodating to change channels to catch a game? We’ll be on Oasis right after dry dock and the Grey Cup will be on Nov 24th. I think Bob C (correct me if I misquoted you Bob😉) said something like there will be lots of NFL games so it might not get shown. It will be broadcast on an ESPN channel.

I know it’s a different ship but it would be nice to know generally what they can do.

    TIA! 🏈

  11. The 107th Grey Cup Canadian Football Championship 🏈 final is Sunday, November 24, 2019 and broadcasting around 6pm EST in Canada on TSN. It’s scheduled to be broadcast by ESPN2 in the USA.

What are the chances it will be shown at Playmakers restaurant on Oasis - assuming all is ready after dry dock?

We also have Voom surf and stream so hopefully we can at least catch it on that but a bigger screen would be nice. 🇨🇦

  12. Great review Andrew.

🏄🏻‍♂️ I told my husband about The FlowRider “test” on the boogie board before he can do stand up. He wasn’t happy but I told him we will just skip our usual boarding day ritual so he can get it done asap.

Now to catch up on your scopes....

I hope you and your family have a safe trip home. Here’s hoping you can change to a direct flight 🤞

I have heard about to star class doing that, but I was just go get it myself. It seems more rewarding.   They can also unpack your suitcases for you, but I’ll just do that myself.

I have received an email from them when I was on the ship and I have to email them back tomorrow. They were apologetic but really didn’t  take ownership of the issue, just saying that they were quite busy.

It’s not as though the marathon was a surprise, After all it is been held for more than 17 years, so it’s a little bit of deflection on their part. They also said if we ever return they will do right by us. They gave us another 15,000 Marriott points on top of the 5,000 we already received.

In the meantime, we’ve already booked another room at the Hyatt Centric Brickle in Miami for our March cruise.

I will email them back and tell them that we’re cancelling our March reservation, and going somewhere else. The reason is our son is with us and we don’t want him to be put through another ordeal like the one we went through. I will inform them that we are returning back in September and if they want to make right by us then we will consider booking a room then.

The hotel was nice but there lots of hotels in the area that are just as good if not better.

If you do decide to go back try their property, the Stanton, on South Beach. It’s not far from the port and you get a beach day included (2 beach chairs, a welcome drink each, and 2 bikes). We had only one day and one night.  We ate at Joe’s Stone Crab nearby. I would do it again. No issues and our room was ready early 😉

If I got this right, the view from our room is attached.

  14. Loved the Med both East and West.

We would def do a few more cruises there but split future port excursions amongst different cruises.

Most unlike the Caribbean are the 8-11 hour excursions we have had:

Lining up for the furnicular to leave Capri was claustrophobic so we walked down instead - it was relaxing and quite lovely.

We did Pompeii 2x - once just the 2 of us and on another cruise with our young adult children. Freakishly hot both times and not a lot of shelter from the sun as you had to keep up with the tour group. Wear a hat and always bring water.

As we wandered Rome (2 pre cruise stays)we found so many great places to eat - some down what we would call an alley way at home. Never disappointed with the food there but we were never disappointed with Caribbean food either.

Most Caribbean islands speak English but you will encounter several languages on a Med cruise. It helps to learn a few basic local phrases in the Med: Hello, Goodbye, Thank you and Where are the toilets? My barely there high school French got me through some simple purchases in Cassis.

Some toilets don’t have seats so bring paper seat covers.

Just be aware of safety advisories as some cities have more pickpockets-not our experience but just be aware of the tactics.

When we went to Pisa, the port we went to was La Spezia and we were told that we could only get on a bus tour as they don’t like having so many people wandering about their town - not sure if that was true or not.

In Palma de Mallorca we shared a cab with another couple to a beach just 10 minutes from the ship.

In Barcelona we only walked up and down Las Ramblas because of port fatigue on that trip but next time would see more of the city.

We were interporting that trip. It had 2 embarkations - Barcelona and Rome. Most passengers got on in Barcelona, but we got on in Rome as we wanted to spend more time in Rome precruise. We had to hand over our sea pass cards at the end of the cruise in Civitivecchia. Our kids had to make new friends after some left halfway through our trip when they debarked in Barcelona.

Yes it’s more formal on formal nights in the Med, but do what feels comfortable.

On land in the Med most locals do not wear shorts - that seems to be done by us North Americans more.

Some churches like St. Peter’s in Vatican City have dress codes. You may want to look up the specifics or buy Vatican Museums tickets online ahead of time. Long lines and at some points very congested to go through the Vatican museums. No photography or talking in the Sistine chapel. Lots of security that will take your camera or phone if you attempt it.

Mostly have fun and try to do the Med more often to avoid port fatigue.
